Isn't GPS street data all from the same source? The TomTom Nav on the 2024’s is surprisingly decent, on par with standalone gps units

That sounds like a sack of jawaya if you ask me. ?Excellent, thanks for the info! I'm pretty sure I read on the internet, Lewis and Clark used Google Maps ??

GPS only gives you the blue dot.
It does not provide the map!

You can pre-download pretty much anywhere with Google Maps. Just choose the section of the world you want and download away. Many areas I travel have NO cell service, how will car play support ?
I think it's supposed to have traffic. Not sure if I've failed to enable it, or it's actually missing.Does the built-in pre-2024 Nav have details like traffic / construction / etc.? Yeah, I haven't played with it much since 1: the user interface is primitive and 2: its maps are incredibly outdated.
I keep a Bad Elf GPS device handy for those times when I want to use my iPhone for navigation, it supports any Location Services aware app. One day Apple will admit to their customers that their SIM card devices (iPhone/iPad) only provide A-GPS, which blows chunks. Not to mention lack of full US map, though iOS 17 will come with offline map capability, ala Google Maps.My jeep has most all or that, but No Nav.. oh well guess Ill still take my Garmin GPS.. thanks
It's supposedly a TomTom navigation system.Betchya $20 the brand new UConnect 5 has virtually the same outdated maps as my old 8.4 unit.
Yeah, but when it comes to local data storage, many OEM navigation systems and platforms still share the same map source "files."It's supposedly a TomTom navigation system.
