The biggest shift we've seen in the bumpers and armor market is people shopping solely on price. Lots of imported products that look "interesting" with little in the way of quality or performance. American manufacturing can't compete on price with a $300 bumper if we want to pay fair wages and use quality raw goods.

Really not a lot of that happening here (I agree with your income bracket comment if we are talking only about this forum) but elsewhere on the web, it seems to be more commonplace.

We see a lot of built JLs, but seeing less and less built for 4 wheeling if that makes sense. The American made Jeep armor market is in one of those "evolve or die" moments :time:
I agree there is a lot of Jeeps built for looks. Express lifts to run 40’s etc. I have your sliders ready for powder coating and will support American companies for armor for the JLU and any other areas where I can. I don’t need made cheap garbage protecting my investment and my safety.

Why powder coat aluminum? Just wondering what your thought are ? I got a GenRight rear bump, they are sold raw and the salesman recommended just paint for trail use and touch up.
My Crusader sliders are steel. I just powder coat everything, I don’t mind removing and sending back for PC again if it needs it. But sure I can rattle touch up as needed if it’s minor.

I also clear PC aluminum or black to keep it from corroding.

Okay, you have a 4dr. with steel sliders. Threads about 2 drs. and aluminum, just saying. Thread has wandered off the reservation.
Ah yes, my comment was more towards JCR and the change in customers needs. Sorry for hijacking.

Update: Almost 4 months have pasted and I have made some progress on my build but at the cost of compromise. I still have not completed my build but have made progress. For a bellypan I got a good deal on M.O.R.E.'s metal pan, $575 out the door. Wanted aluminum but just didn't work out. I wanted a minimal lift for 35" tires. After doing half a dozen trails that where rated 4 to 7 I decided on 37" tires. I decided on AEV Pintle JL wheels. AEV advised I needed at least 2.5" lift with their wheels and 37's. They told me their springs are HD unlike Mopars. I don't overland or haul camping gear. I heard most folks reporting a good ride even when empty and also most are getting 3"'s of lift. I purchased the kit on EBay for $1,099. Added SteerSmarts HD adj track bar and Synergy adj. LCA's for ease of DIY on vehicle adjustment. Now installed the Mopar lift is at nearly 3"'s. One of the last items I wanted was aluminum rock sliders. I'm still hoping some vendor offers them soon. I may just get some cheap metal one for now. Compromising blows. Seems the vendors are falling all over themselves racing for the JT market. I have a hard time believing the JT will out sell the JL. Or that JT owners will want to wheel and outfit their JT's like JL owners. Maybe the vendors will come back around to the JL in 6 months or so.
