My apologies for arriving late to the party. I brought beer!
After reading the entire thread with an unbiased mind. I am on the team with the most facts, otherwise affectional nicknamed : the gang of assholes. ?

Seriously though.
If I felt I was slighted by Jeep and came on here looking for condolences and "I got your back" post, to only find guys/gals questioning my hurt or posting facts to disprove my theories, I would be butt hurt too. My pride would say the first couple of posters were wrong, but not after days and 47 pages. Its time to look in the mirror.
This is the internet though....... Without even saying I'm wrong or trying to double down on more falsehoods, I would just stop and move on. Especially when long time members start posting that I'm wrong. ?‍♂

Shit... that's a bargain!
He claims he got charged an extra $6K and got nothing!
I stupidly thought it'd be something like $50, but that's a lot of plastic to design and form. Was definitely willing to shell out something to help him, but damn.

At that price I definitely understand Jeep's decision to scrap it. I'm a little surprised that it hasn't been scrapped across the board.

Seriously? I hadn't heard about that screwup.
Yeah, there was a thread about it. Guess it was just a temporary substitution thing and not necessarily a mistake, since it happened to quite a few of us with that trim during that particular time period.

I just tell myself that the orange needles and gauges still match the orange button illumination.. every. single. day. Lol. The 6k "redline" (that's literally orange) doesn't bother me too much, since the engine still goes to 6.5k as it should.

Was never a fan of the red accents everywhere anyway, but c'mon. I've got red stitched dash, armrest, seats, a completely obnoxious red dashboard and gaudy red badging everywhere outside. The red dials kinda goes with that theme.

You know what...
If there is ANY chance this guy would give us a shipping address, I would actually chip in to buy him an engine cover.

Definitely overpriced from the dealers, but I'd honestly be surprised if it costs Jeep more than $5 to $10 per unit with the little bracket pieces and screws. Hell, maybe $20 at most, but $225 retail, which is likely $100 wholesale? For something of that size/design, I just don't see it.

If they were actually that expensive then you'd see every manufacturer getting rid of them to increase their profits (as well as Jeep getting rid of the 2.0T cover).

Think you have the breakdown numbers already, but I'd hazard to guess that since Jeep seems keen on pushing the 2.0T over the 3.6L (more profitable engine?), they probably don't see a problem with nixing the cover while substantially raising the price of that engine vs the 2.0T over the years.

?‍♂

Ya know, if you'd gotten tan leather you'd have a nice neutral colored dash. :bandit:

Is anyone fluent in setting up a GoFundMe page? Maybe, just maybe, he might get the (false?) impression that we're not all assholes.

Man, I was just going to buy @John Benoit an engine cover, but damn they're more expensive than I would have thought. $165! https://www.allmoparparts.com/sku/jljtv6enginecoverkit.html

Unfortunately they don't have one for his 3.6 e torque. Just the 3.6, which, apparently, is completely different. I've been schooled again.
Oh yea- sure you were, after being a bully and picking on him for 47 pages. And now that he has disappeared you claim you wanted to do something nice, but have an excuse why you can’t. Why don’t you stop and smell what you shovelin’. He’s probably so beat down and depressed he’s getting drunk, hope yer proud of yourself . You have shown your and your terrorist gangs true nature .

I was thinking the same thing.
I don't know anything about setting up a GoFundMe, but I do contribute to them.

Dude would still need to provide a shipping address.
Could be a P.O. box, business address, friend/family in a totally different state.
I would chip in.

The link you provided says COMING SOON! This product is not currently available to order.

I'm still in.
If someone can source a kit and provide some method of payment, I'll chip in.
