1. I went from a '00 Ford Excursion diesel (also solid front axle) to a Gladiator to a JLUR. The Excursion had the best ride of the 3, but it also had softer springs than a regular F250 that it shared most everything else with. 2nd best ride was the Gladiator, which actually had a longer wheelbase than the Excursion, which made it pretty damn nimble for a Jeep.

OP should ride in a Jeep with high mileage Rough Country springs and shocks on a rough road, then go back to his wife's JLU and he'll be praising how smooth and plush it actually is. Lol

3. I was also part if the "No 4cyl Wrangler" group until I test drove two lifted JLUs back to back. One was a 3.6 on 35s and the other was a 2.0t on 35s. The 2.0 impressed me. I found a YouTube video that dyno'd two Wranglers, and it showed that the 2.0t made about 47lbs-ft of torque to the rear wheels more than the 3.6, while it only made about 6hp less. I ended up buying a 2.0t JLUR and have a 93 octane Superchips tune on it, which provides a significant power gain "under the curve".
OP's better half has 2 door willys assuming the photo he posted in April is correct. I'm figuring he's whining because either he picked wrong wrangler or he didn't get a say... lol
Best riding vehicle I've ever had is my 1986 Ford F350 Crew Cab long bed manual everything. Still going strong...

Yes, they were cleared for landing light aircraft on the hood. 😁

Not mine, it was burgundy, but that one set up the light aircraft landing on the hood joke my buddy teased me about. 😊

My buddy’s mom had a black 69 Mk III with a high compression 460. From a dead stop that car would make the right rear tire disappear. No power braking bullshit or anything like that. Car would definitely boogie.
Maybe it got turned into “The Car” after she was done with it. 😳
One last thing , the only thing hotter than that black Mk III on a summer day was… Her 😈

Yep wish I had gotten a pre smog castrated MK III, heck, if I was a rich Leno type it would be my list for a driver…. My aunt had a pre smog El Dorado that would lite up the front tires and go too. … But the Lincoln’s seats were much better….. 1972, the worst year in automotive history and it took until about 1990 before respectable performance again.

Her previous car was an Olds Starfire, 64-65? I thought it was so cool because it had 4 bucket seats and a center console that went all the way through the back pair. Not sure what was under the hood, 394, 425, we were little dudes at that time.

Edit to 1972, I just read an article that said 3 72 440 six packs squeezed through before being pulled from the orders, built in August of 71, a Rallye Red GTX and 2 Chargers, Rallye Red and Top Banana Yellow.

My Aunt also had a 62 Coup DeVille that had been parked in the garage after they got the Eldorado for many years. It was on 4 rotted tires and a puddle of transmission fluid. A lot of mechanical work but perfect cosmetically….. I wanted it but Dad wouldn’t let me have it when liquidating her assets.

That's gorgeous! 😍

Used to have a couple of non-Mark regular-Joe Continentals with the air-ride suspension and cushy leather seats and wow, was that a comfortable place to be!

At least until the air bags started to go. Was cheaper to have it converted to strut/springs, but lost that magical floaty feeling, while softly bouncing down the highway. Don't think sitting on my couch at home was even as comfortable as sitting in the Lincolns! 😆

Can’t recall what year and my wife is asleep so I can’t ask but her grandmother had a 2 dr Lincoln Town Car when we met early 80’s. Must be rare, I don’t recall seeing others.
Evidently about 77-79 looked like

Never seen one of those before.
There was a forum I went on years ago that one member transplanted a 6.1 HEMI into a 62-63 ish Continental. It looked like a first rate conversion. Also saw a 68-69 Barracuda coupe with a 6.1. Probably hauled ass in such a light body. Fastbacks were MUCH better looking to my eyes.
