JLs came with 3.45. no 3.21 available after the JK.

There's probably barely a noticeable difference between the two. I've no experience with this "can't get out of it's own way" issue from OP. Our Jeeps all came with 4.10s, and 2 of the 3 are now running 4.88s. Ironically, the one still on 4.10s is the only 2.0t of the trio (with a tune), and it tows our 3000lbs camper better than our 3.6 Gladiator does, albeit with a lot more squat.
