I plan to keep my 2018 JLU until it costs more to repair than what it’s worth, or until my grandson begins to drive in about 10 years.

Probably forever. I ordered a new ‘25 2 door 6Mt and by the time this one wears out you probably won’t get the option of 2 doors or a manual.

It will be some kind of electric station wagon…

One of the only good things about getting older is you don't worry about how long things will last as much.....they may outlast you.

We've got our 2018 and a 2024. I think I'll keep 'em going as long as possible, maybe passing one down to a grandson in the future. I may have enough go juice in me to last for one more new purchase in the future, though I might need an escalator to get up in it by that point. Either way, we'll rock on and make it happen! Plenty of people on this forum who have made it that far and beyond, so I'll take their experiences as example. :like:

A good friend recently expressed interest....more like lust....for our '23 2d softop JL. I may leave it to her in my will.

i'm with you halfway there.

we're eye-to-eye on that 'not a money pit' part.

but i don't mod mine with any expectation toward recouping that money; i built it to make it more like i wanted it.
nobody makes a vehicle i want better than i do; the JLU was just a platform on which to build that.
i tend to keep vehicles for a while and have never traded one in, so i plan to be the one enjoying that money i put into it.

Life hack: Don't give into the temptation of new car smell, keep your vehicles as long as they are somewhat reliable and don't become a money pit.
Also don't compound the issue by putting lots of money to mod your jeep because you will not recoup the costs of them on a potential trade in.

As with almost every vehicle I've ever owned, I keep it until it no longer makes financial sense to do so...or if I require a different vehicle for practicality's sake. The only time I ever violated this rule, is when I sold my beloved CJ-5 so I could purchase my JL, and that's the biggest automotive mistake I ever made. Given the recent and projected state of Stellantis and the Jeep brand, this will (sadly) be the last Jeep product I ever buy. As such, I plan to keep my JL until it blows up and unfortunately, that's probably not far off.

I'm hoping not to buy another vehicle, so beyond 10+

I have a 2021 4xe, it's amazing, but if 💩 fails after the 10 year warranty(2031), at that time I would prefer a non 4xe, because I would be doing a lot of cross country traveling, bucket list is all 51 states + Arctic sea , I'm hoping someone comes up with an engine swap to drop something like a 5.7 or better in a 4xe.

Right now my concern is corrosion, it's starting on the hood, and a couple of hinges are showing signs. I will try to push the corrosion warranty to the last minute.

If the corrosion comes back after that, maybe a wrap or body liner.

I have no idea!

I only drive it like 2k miles a year, so most components barely have any wear at all. I do leave mine parked outside a lot so corrosion could end up being a very real concern someday, but it seems fine for now.

The 2025s are largely the same as my 2020 and I don't think anything the 2025s have is worth the cost of upgrading.

After the GC 4XE debacle my wife said she wanted her next car to get paid off and quote "drive the doors off it"
I told her if she wanted to do that maybe she should get something that could actually drive with the doors off...so she got a Wrangler...
Hopefully we won't need another for some time to come...

I try to plan a lot of things in my life, but this hasn’t ever been one of them. Circumstances, opportunities, and options change over time.

I don’t plan how long I’ll keep my pants, socks, or underwear either. I just keep stuff until I feel like I should get rid of it.
