My 21 with cloth seats get very warm and quickly. After several minutes on high I'm usually reminded by my burning but to back it down or kill it altogether. From a cold start (it's about 15 degrees) I usually only leave the heated wheel on for 5 minutes or so. I love both features.

I have a 20 with cloth seats. they definetly don't get hot to the point I feel they are uncomfortable, but they get warm enough for me to drive around with the doors off when it's in the 60s. I personally don't feel like mine need to get any hotter. maybe leather is different. I did notice the heated steering wheel definetly doesn't get as hot as my old Durango though. you could fry an egg on that thing.
I have cloth heated and think the previous 3 jeeps with leather heated slower. My vehicle sits outside in 20 deg, it's warm by the time I get 300yrds down road, I have to turn heated steering wheel off in 5 min, to hot, and seats down to 1 or off, same time.

How hot are your heated seats getting? I got my 19 JLUR a little over a month ago and feel like the seats are lackluster in comparison to any other vehicle that I've felt. Not sure how much it matters, but they're leather. Even on level 3 they are warm at best, no matter how long they're on.

I had a 2022 Tacoma before this and I would have to turn them down after about 15 minutes because they were uncomfortably hot. After that I had a loaner Ford Edge and it was the same scenario, very hot seats, felt like it was going to burn you. That has actually been a trend I've noticed in all the Fords I've been in. Have a few friends with F150s and one has a Bronco Sport. My girlfriend had 2020 Renegade and its seats put the JL to shame too.

I don't have an IR gun so I haven't measured the temps, but I suppose I could pick up a cheap one, they're useful enough.

I have no issues with my 2018 JLU Sport. Obviously, it came with the cold weather package, seat, steering wheel, block heater, heated mirror. I have cloth seats, and I have to say I do have to knock it down after a while it does get quite warm. As for the steering wheel heater yes it gets warm too, but you don't need it on after the steering wheel gets warmed up. My wife would like to have the bar that is on the passenger side to be heated.

Okay so the overall consensus is that some are blazing hot and others are barely adequate, both seats and steering wheels. I'm sure there's nothing that can be done short of replacing all the heating elements and possibly the control circuit. I know the dealer will say "working as designed."

I found a 6 page post on the Ram forums that echoed the same sentiment. Good to know that quality control hasn't improved since the ChryCo days. 😆

I have leather seats. I start the seat heater on high. After about 10 minutes, I switch to medium or low.

Not overly hot like my old 2016 Taco, but very pleased with the temperature, also the steering wheel...

i'm sure there's some variances, but a huge amount has to do with peoples perception and judgement, along with what they're wearing.

2020 cloth super hot that I turn them down to 1. Then I can go all day with them on. Our wagoneer. Leather. I don’t think as hot as the wrangler

I need to find a way to just have them default to always on and on HI. Great on my back, getting old sucks.

I need to add cooled seats though.
There is a setting on uconnect for the auto on. I think mine are on at anything below 38.

If your girlfriend can sit on them on max heat while wearing a miniskirt or thin summer dress, they are defective.

On my Jeep we play jokes with each other all the time by sneaking in max heat whenever someone is dressed in shorts, bikinis, thin clothes, etc.

It is hot enough that they will get mad when they realize it.

The test is to measure the resistance of the heater elements. It can very easily be proved that one or the other is defective. It should be quite hot.
