For those that might be interested... After install of the Redline Tuning Hood Lift Struts on your Jl/JT..... there really is no reason to leave the stock hood prop in place.

Takes but a couple of minutes to remove the prop rod. Oh.. about the unsightly yellow prop rod grabber... It prys off very easily.

That quick-disconnect is pretty slick!
Indeed the quick disconnects are terrific to have.

Jeep Wrangler JL Hood shocks - anyone installed? FAQ - Steps for QR 72-00008

Can't tell you how many times over the years, with struts on various equipment, that I damaged a strut connector on a strut when I went to disconnect a strut.

It's real easy to damage a plane jane strut connector... not to mention the more you disconnect a plane jane strut connector, the more likely it is to be damaged/become unusable.

Not so with a quick disconnect... You can disconnect over and over and never an issue..

Thanks to the quick disconnects that are part of the Redline Hood Lift Strut offering, disconnect if ever necessary is easy easy / takes seconds to do.

Hint .... Redline Tuning sells the quick disconnects separately from the hood lift kits they sell.
https://www.redlinetuning.com/product-p/72-00008.htm

You can buy their quick disconnects and install them on the generic struts you have that say lift the storage compartment door on your RV or the Hood on you Genset, etc...

The quick disconnects screw right on to most struts like the ones that ship with Redline Tuning offerings.

Trivia: Redline Tuning, a USA Company... a family business, has been in business selling hood lift kits, etc. for over 20 years.

I believe Redline hood struts were my first mod. They are fantastic! Over 2 years now, they have been flawless.

Fyi: Redline also makes these for other vehicles. I put a set on my Mustang. Wow! Insane!

Great product, super easy install!
Thanks @Redline Tuning

Question about the installation: When you remove the 10mm OEM bolt on the fender to install the bracket, do you have to do anything to the unpainted surface below the head of the bolt?

We have a new ‘41 green color Rubicon. When I removed the bolt, I saw the surface below the flanged-head of the 10mm bolt was grey (primer?). Not sure you have to put some kind of rust protection/paint over that before attaching the new bracket.

Probably overthinking it, but we plan to keep this Jeep for a while and we live on the East Coast with humidity, salt, etc.

The grey is the primer/sealant and protects the raw metal. You are fine to just install our fender brackets over the primer. If you want to be 120% sure, you can always use touch up paint on top of the primer and let it dry before installing the bracket. In the 20+ years we have been designing our Hood QuickLIFT systems, we have never received feedback from a customer that there was a corrosion issue after removing a factory bolt to install our product. :like:

I used a 2k epoxy to seal it, you can buy a brush on aluminum sealer as well.
