I have the same ones- first mod to mine, and they're great.

Great idea but I wonder if, after lifting the jeep, can you reach the top of the hood to close it. With the hood prop attached to the hood you can use it to push the hood up and lower with the rod and never touch the top of the hood.

Well maybe you can install some kind of rope handle to pull back down.

I was just now out with mine lifting the hood up to see if I could reach after 3.5" lift and I can just reach it flat footed . I'm 6' normal sized guy. I might have to put these on the list.

Couldn't you still use the rod to pull it down?

With struts installed the rod would still be attached to hood because there would be no reason to be unattached.

Yes, but if the issue is reaching the hood, I don't know that one could reach the prop rod on the underside to unclip it and lower it, unless you do so when you open the hood, at which what was the point in the lifts?

They look nice, but one thing I really like about my Jeep is that when I am working on it, i can put the hood back against the windshield and have more light and working room.

Do these use a strut that can be sourced elsewhere?

I actually love the idea (the hood prop sucks ass) but these struts DO fail and I'm not into proprietary products

Getting mine today; was supposed to be 2 days ago...then yesterday...err. I love doing new stuff to my JL and even though it might sound a little silly, looking forward to putting them on too.

Hello TimmH, with our quick release end fittings you can very easily disconnect the lower strut mount and lean the hood back on the windshield. Please see the video below:
