There was a crapload of speculation about that on one of the various threads that have been shut down. I'm guessing yours was a manual?
Yes, my Jeep is a 6MT. It was frustrating until I did the advanced scan and got the P08A6 code and researched a bit. I'm trying to figure out why the ECU would care about Engine Speed vs. Wheel Speed on a manual, but it does. I guess it can detect a slipping clutch (maybe???). My gear display went away and I got the auto stop/start warning on the dash.

EDIT: Google AI says this about the code.

wondering how many of us have regeared?
Yes, running 37's. You can run 35's on Rubicon gears fine, but you are 100% missing out on performance. Going to 4.88 absolutely improves throttle response. Running 4.10 on heavier 35s, you're definitely losing out. Spend the money, buy the gears.

The 6th gear relearn should fix it.

Yep, it's been a shit show of years of questionable decisions related to that transmission by Jeep's engineers. But, of course, some people here will slam me for giving our manuals anything but praise.

Yeah, I'm happy with my 6MT for the most part, until I regeared I'd stall it reversing into my driveway about half the time.

Two things outside of regearing improved the experience:
1) Disabling the hill brake hold assist.
2) Disabling auto stop/start. During an ESS event and eventual restart the engine took a bit of time to develop full torque causing it to stall.

how is your top speed?
with 35s and 456 i was able to run 85-90 without breaking a sweat which on southern california freeways is sometimes needed🤣

I typically don’t run any faster than 75 but doubt theres any issues running higher speeds.
As it’s geared now the engine turns about 2k RPM at 60 mph.

Working well with the factory 4.56 ratio.

3.6L auto, 37's running 5.13 gears.

Weight added in bumpers/armor, heavy Hutchinson's etc also plays a large roll, she was a dog on the highway even with XR 4.56 gears.

At the slightest incline at 70-80 mph a downshift to 6 was needed to maintain speed, after 5.13's slight inclines can maintain in 8th, steeper incline might need 7th gear. Basically the trans has to do less hunting for gears.

you'll know when you need gears, it becomes obvious when there is no power at highway speeds. Hell on a flat highway I couldn't even accelerate from 8th at 70-75 without a downshift, but now 8th even has some pull at those speeds

4:88 factory gears with the 3.6 auto trans and 35s, so no need to re-gear. Swapped the factory KO2s out for Mickey Thompson Baja MTs in 35/12.5/17, and I had to recalibrate the speedometer for a tire size 1/2" shorter (factory setting = 34.88" / new setting = 34.25").

I run a two door 2.0L JLR on 37 inch d load KO2s. I do see 8th gear all the time and it still pulls really good but the wind drag on the highway makes me wish I had a little extra sometimes.

Stock 4.10 on my 2 door 6 speed Rubi with 35x11.5 feels just fine. 5th and 6th gears are as usable as they were on stock 33" and I'm not planning on going larger than 35". So it's "no".

Been running 37" Ko2's for 45k miles, 6sp 4.10 gears. Has worked fine for my use case. I have a set of STT Pros on a separate set of wheels that I swap on for the occasional trip to AOAA. Stock gears suck with those tires.

All that being said, I will be regearing soon. My Jeep has a lot more towing in its future. 5.13's or 5.38's will tighten up the wide gearing of the transmission.
