EDIT: UPDATES WITH MOAB PHOTOS PG.2

Here is my build, delivery taken in September 2023

A bit about me, I have been a left ak amputee since 2007. An influx of money from an unfortunate motorcycle trash funded my first build of a 2008 2 door that we managed to get onto Crawl Mag. Now 15 years later the JK was sent off to a fitting new owner and thus started my replacement JL build now with room for my whole family.

My last rig

Jeep Wrangler JL 2024 Rubicon JLU Build 2754

My now rig

Jeep Wrangler JL 2024 Rubicon JLU Build IMG_0263

My JK build was a straight buggy conversion with no daily driving in mind, this build is 100% daily driven with a more "overlanding" take. Looking at the possibility of towing a camping trailer. I did all of the work myself hopping around on one leg except for the gear set up.

Side note: Yes I ordered it with the xtreme recon package. Between ordering and planning the build, things escalated and now there is nothing left of that but the fender extensions and larger brakes lol but I did clear $3200 for jus the 35" tires and wheels so it wasn't too bad of a hit. Oh well

Here is the spec sheet:

2024 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited
Extreme Recon
3.6L/Auto

Metalcloak 3.5" Game Changer lift with Fox 2.0 shocks
Metalcloak HD Steering with Fox Stabilizer
37"x12.5 General Grabbers
17"x8.5 Huchinson Rock Monsters
5.13 Gear ratio with Spicer covers
Artec Full Aluminum Belly pan
EVO Mfg 1/4 Pounder front bumper
Warn VR Evo-10 winch
Rusty's Stubby rear bumper w/ rear fascia plates
Rockslide engineering steps/sliders
Afe Mach Force XP high tuck exhaust
K&N CAI (largely pointless but sounds fun)
American Adventure Labs (AAL) M.A.S.S. storage platform
AAL Slide platform
AAL rear tire delete license plate mount
AAL Molle overhead
KC 50" Pro6 Gravity light bar
KC 10" light bar (bumper mounted)
KC Flex Era 1 (rear mounted)
Tazer JL mini
ARB Twin Motor Portable compressor

A Rebel Bak-Pak Spare tire delete is pictured but no longer installed

So far just some Uwharrie wheeling right before it closed for the off season. We will be in Moab in June, looking forward to playing with it out there

Question. I also have an XR, which means it came with the mopar tailgate reinforcement. It doesn't look like you have one on yours. Is that because you had to remove it to put the spare tire delete on? I haven't taken mine off or looked at it, is there anything I'd need to buy other than the spare tire delete to make it work?

Also, what's your solution for carrying a spare? I was considering getting a spare tire holder that bolts down to a truck bed, and bolting that into the cargo area of the JL when I need it. Something like this one from RC. I think because of the slant a 37 would still fit with the back seats up, but I could always slant it more if needed. Thoughts?

That is a super nice build but I am curious. Why bother with the extreme recon package? It looks like you essentially replaced everything that is the extreme recon package.

So in my 20+ years of wheeling I have only needed a spare once (knock on wood), and that time was while racing, under some extreme hill climbing. Honestly with the quality of tires made today I find it even less likely. When I pick up a camping trailer I may decide to bolt one to it for peace of mind, but as of now I couldn't justify the hanging weight.

I did have to remove the XR hinge set up for the Rebel kit and I never looked to see if I could use it with the AAL delete, but with no extra weight it was unnecessary anyways. The hinge set up is easy to remove or replace, I believe I was able to even reuse the longer bolts it has to reassemble the hing without it.

I did look at possibly mounting it on the cargo area but I need that space to much for the occasions when I tote a wheelchair

I did replace everything, you're right lol. So I ordered my 2024 in March of 2023 and at the time the XR was going to fit my needs. Then while waiting from march to september the parts started to roll in and what can I say, at least its not on 40's with D60s under it? lol

I was also hoping the 4.56 gears were going to work with the 37's and then I could justify it a little...but no. Especially no because I would like to be able to tow. I believe the XR has bigger brakes (i honestly can't recall) but aside from that there was no need to get the XR. BUT when I ordered my XR it was a $4k package and I got $3200 for the XR wheels and tires so I lost $800 and I do still have some parts I may be able to nickel and dime some of that 800 out of who knows.
