Logic says no, because if any JL key opened the glove box and console of any Jeep, then any key would also open the doors of any JL.
Are you sure about that? The console and glovebox could be keyed for something very basic that all JL keys share in common. I’m no locksmith but I would think such a setup is possible.

I'm pretty sure I read that the locks are generic and can be opened by any JL key

I wonder if the glovebox and console locks could be opened by any JL key why I might not see replacement cylinders from MOPAR or Bolt to make them key cut specific....

just sayin...I have no idea what the answer to the OP's question is; but someone will.

certainly the MOPAR higher end locking gas cap and hood lock are key specific as per the need to configure them to the owner's key....

Good point, I didn’t think of that. But since many people go without a top at all and soft tops offer no security, that’d be kind of careless on FCAs part. If that’s the case anyone could use any JL key to easily access the only semi secure areas of a Jeep with the top down or a soft top.

The console latch and lock mechanism must have been adopted from a pinto, not a $50k vehicle, because mine broke with the first month. Point is, the quality won’t prevent theft so buy a quality lockbox.

@Rahneld I just went out to check since I saw this post LOL. I can confirm, the keys are vehicle specific. My key cannot lock the glovebox or console in my wife's JL.
Thanks Steve for taking the time to research this for us given your relatively easy exposure to 2 JL's!

I took mine in for a fix. They ordered a part and it took a month to come in. When they scheduled me it was going to be three weeks before they could get me in. When I went in they told me Mopar made them send the part back since it had not been installed yet...they needed it.
I can hardly believe Jeep can't get their act together on small parts
@JeepCares Why is this happening?
So I guess I'll try looking at mine and see exactly what broke. I don't even use the console, so I find it odd that it's broke. Oh well... It looks like the spring just popped out or something.
