The console latch and lock mechanism must have been adopted from a pinto, not a $50k vehicle, because mine broke with the first month. Point is, the quality won’t prevent theft so buy a quality lockbox.
A squirrel with attitude could get past those locks, I think it's more to keep valet parkers honest.

If the spring is lost (mine was I guess), the garage might be able to put the latch back in without it. It will clamp down but the latch will be "floppy" and no tension on it.
I just went to the dealer and they are ordering me a new one. I'll let you know when my part comes in:like:

Reading this post and assuming (wrong on my part) that a car manufacturer would not do that I took my key to my 2018 Dodge Challenger and got in my wife's 2017 Dodge Challenger and sure enough, my key locked and unlocked her glove box. Why even put a lock on the glove box then???
