Hello all,

I would like to have your opinion about the 2 steering stabilizers from FOX.

I have already read a lot of things on the forum, but I can’t find a clear answer to my problem.

I have a JLUR with 285/70/R17 Toyo Winter tires now, and will put my KO2 285/70/R17 tires once winter finished.

I am happy with the jeep but as running here in French alps, I do also a lot of highway and once upper 90 km/h I feel the steering vert loose.
Cruising at 130km/h on the highway is not satisfying at all due to the lack of precision in the steering Wheel.
I won’t do any rock crawling, but a lot of snow and some easy trails so, quite no risks to damage the steering stabilizer in that stock (exposed) position.

So, I wanted to upgrade my steering stabilizer with the Fox IPS first. Then I saw the ATS released...

I don’t know if the IPS will solve the problem, and I don’t want to buy an ATS for nothing...

Can the simple IPS solve the loose feeling ?

Do you think I really need to go for the ATS and its 24 clicks range to finally drive with a precise steering ?

I just precise that being in Europe, the IPS is here about 280 dollars and 600 for the ATS...

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience...

Regards

If you’re not planning on getting a lift and oversized tires then the cheaper one is fine, Fox makes a great stabilizer. But you might look into rough country dual shock stabilizer, they work great and here in the states is only 125.00. For your set up it would work great in my opinion. That said, make sure that is your problem first, have the steering components checked out by your dealer or mechanic, often times it’s not the stabilizer that’s the problem. Good luck.

I've hear a few people complaining of steering issues that arose with the dual steering stabilizer, that wen't away when they went back to OEM.

I had the IPS and I would still get a little, minor about of bump wobble going over expansion joints on heavy 37s. Switched out to Falcon 2.2 and its smooth as butter now. I'd say got ATS.

I’ve had rc in last two lifted Jeeps with 35s and have had no issues, don’t get me wrong I like fox, they’re great, but op is on 285s no lift, but it’s probably not even his problem, it rarely is with loose steering, most times it’s something else.

There's much more of a reliance on that SS than in previous models it seems. I do know there is a TSB on replacing some SSer's, could be OP's problem but never know.

Thanks guys for your answers !

I found a good deal on a ATS via eBay.
I will let you know once installed if it was a waste of money or not ;)

Have a Merry Christmas !

Hi,

Just received and mounted the FOX ATS on my JLUR.

It just changed totally the drive.
I am on the standard click setting and it is fine.
Precise but not too tight.
It is simply how it should have been from stock...

It is clearly not a waste of money ;)
