I contend that the first job of a snorkel is to look cool.

Everything else is justification to that end.

For me, there is definitely some truth to that. I initially installed mine as a means of cooler air when on the trail. I have no intentions of going into water that deep. Now I need something to prevent water from getting in there when I wash my jeep and I think the mushroom snorkel looks cool. I'm not sure I can make it happen though. I'm actually considering a homemade shroud over my current set up. Even though I don't think its going to look very cool.

I wouldn't use that cowl piece that's never going to work right.

You'd be better off getting another factory cowl panel and modifying that instead.

I decided to build a prototype with what I had in my shop. Aesthetically, it's taller and wider than I would prefer. It was my idea but I don't think much of it . I'm not sure just yet but I might build one more smaller design, prototype.

I think I'm done with it. I'm glad I built a prototype first. My shop however is a frigging mess!
