Thats a great idea!If you have/get the taller snorkel parts for the RR, couldn't you make a plate that mounts to the upwards-facing cowl vent? If so, then you could cut a hole in the middle of said plate to mount a circular snorkel pre-filter or something similar if the mushroom is no longer available.
RR even has one like that; should be a lot easier to make work with the rest of their product: https://ruggedridge.com/p/rugged-ridge-snorkel-pre-filter/v/jeep/wrangler-jl/2023/Thats a great idea!
I'd be ok with something like this one, if I can make it work.

Don't feel too bad they screwed a lot of people over on those snorkels. On the bright side the ones that did get them are happy with them or seem to be anyway. Not even 2 minutes and I find out this is no longer available. That's just my luck.

If you want to practice and potentially have spare parts, you can test the build using this cheap knockoff:

I was tempted to add one to mine, but it's a lease so I didn't feel like having yet one more mod to undo in not too long. If I end up buying out my lease, this will likely be something I add in short order.
Mine is actually a cheap knock off from Amazon and for that reason, experiment. I think I paid like $109
If you install that, you can join me in the next mudpit I misjudge to test it outMaybe cut it off here and make a plate?

I can't help you with your mod, but my gf's Gladiator came with the high mount AMFIB and I would love to swap it with that low mount cowl if/when you decide to remove it. Rugged Ridge won't sell it by itself as a replacement part.I have finally chosen my next mod.
