This might be a dumb question, but I’m new to off-roading so I’m going to ask it anyway.
Is flexing in cold weather bad for your suspension?

Only if you don't stretch first. Hmmm, maybe, have not seen anyone complaining about snow romping though.

I get where the question is coming from, cold metal doesn't like to bend and stretch as much as warm metal. Understandable.

Counterpoint, vehicles are designed to work in weather extremes. It'll be fine.
Otherwise you would have already heard a ton about how Jeeps break so easily when people are snow wheeling and such.

I doubt if it is, but let's assume that it's bad for your suspension.

Does that change anything? Will you garage it and not drive because using the suspension is tougher on it than usual?

Nonissue. Never ever heard of anyone having a problem with it, and I’ve played with them for years, including Michigan and Iowa.

Thanks everyone for the input! I’m not worried about wheeling in the cold anymore. I can’t wait to try out some winter trials!

Don’t worry…the shocks may be stiffer than normal but cold weather should not harm the suspension. I would be more concerned about letting the engine warm up a few minutes before driving it aggressively when cold.
