My front speakers, specifically, crackle and are generally noisy when there are voice coming through, like the DJ or on a phone call. I brought to the dealership and they said it wasn't speaker damage it was a known issue they will push a fix through the radio for at some later date. Did anyone else hear this?

I can't find the thread, but I know this was discussed previously. My understanding is the front driver's side speaker is vibrating within it's housing at certain frequencies. I believe some fixed this with simply pushing a business card or something similar between the speaker and where it attaches. Hopefully someone can locate the thread

Mine does it on occasions. It seems to happen more on local radio stations than when I'm listening to XM.

yes, seems certain frequencies cause a vibration that rattles the housing. It is mostly speech, not music. I get it alot listening to Sirius NFL radio.

I haven't been able to confirm it, but it only seems to affect the driver side, and not the passenger side.

Yes!!!!!! I have narrowed it down to the speaker about knee height in the dash. If its a vibration then I wonder why they would tell me about it being a known issue they need to push a fix out to? I am getting the feeling the dealership will not be the answer to most of my problems.

The Alpine 8.4 speakers have a distortion on certain songs in my Rubicon! It’s definitely not the vibration of people are talking about! I have the 17 etc. version on my 8.4 and it’s never updated. I’m hoping an update will eventually come through And will solve this speaker distortion. Does not do it all the time just on certain songs. It does not do it on the xm,Fm or a.m. radio at all! It only does it when I play music from my iPod! I also have a portable CD player hooked up to the auxiliary port and it does not do it on the CD player!

Here's the thread on this. The noise is coming from the gateway module, rattling in its housing, behind the speaker near your left knee at certain frequencies. The official FCA fix, is to shove a piece of foam in between the speaker and the gateway module. I had this done, ran a frequency generator sweep through the speakers and it's been completely fixed.

I know this thread was awhile back but I’m having speaker issues with my 2018 front speakers. I bought it new and heard the vibration during talk radio, not when music was playing. Thought it was just me then yesterday I had my Jeep parked but was listening to an audiobook through my Jeep speakers. The vibration was horrible! That’s when I decided to search for this problem and found a few threads on it.

I did the suggestion about downloading the tone generator app and I tested it at 145hz. The vibration was bad. I had my husband call the car dealership today and of course they said they’ve had no complaints of issues and that I could leave my Jeep and it might be a few days before the can figure it out. I told my husband there’s several issues on the internet about it and I knew exactly what was wrong. He said I needed to take my Jeep then but I don’t have time to take off work to do this. It’s so frustrating they say they’ve not had any complaints!!! Guess I’ll have to try and fix it myself.

Anything after the 1980's is all noise to me!

if there is an issue with the speakers then wouldn't the warranty cover it ?

Yes, as long as you are within your factory warranty period or have an extended warranty.

I'm having this same issue on the driver's top dash speaker. Only rattles during news, talking etc. Music sounds fine. Thanks for the info.
