I have the lowly unlimited sport. Were I only interested in stop/start I would go the simplest/cheapest way out. However.........Axle gear changes, tire size changes, tire air pressure alarms, extra cooling, etc........Tazer it is.

Get a tazer lite.
Not only does it shut off auto stop/start, you can shut off traction as well.
Plus dozens of other nice features.
I don't know why anyone would spend $100 just to shut off auto stop/start. Pay more and get way more features.
I enjoy sway bar disconnect and rear lockers in 2hi the most.

On my 2020 GMC Sierra, they also had this miserable feature that would shut the engine down at stop lights. Yes, you could hit a switch on the dash and turn it off but that along with the their (shut down) some cylinders was more than i could stand.

So I found an aftermarket deal that eliminated the start/stop deal all together plus I was now running on 8 cylinders at all times instead of 5 or 6, etc.

Is there an aftermarket deal to override the Jeep start/stop feature???
I used a tazer to eliminate the stupid start/stop feature.

I also completely deleted the aux battery to make sure I'll never have any problems. No dash light and no problems with the aux battery draining the main battery.

Another (FREE) option: Unplug sensor/plunger #2 under the hood - as described in the following thread.

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...isable-defeat-by-unplugging-hood-sensor.3216/

I confirmed this method with the Jeep dealer. Works like a charm as long as you can tolerate the dash light.

Disconnecting the plunger, long ago was deemed a lame lame way to try to defeat ESS.

EVIC notices, Remote Start no longer works and more, make this approach lame.

IF you want to buy a proven, easy to install adjunct to deal with ESS (in essence do the ESS button push for you) buy a @SmartStopStart unit. This offering can be had for $100 if you message Steve at SmartStopStart and ask for the $100 price.

Avoid the knock off product called Auto Stop Start Eliminator as it has been know to drop the ball on occasion.... intermittently not do it's job. For the same price buy the SmartStopStart offering that never hiccups..

Also, along with the EVIC light it messes with remote start and more... It's a very lame lame way to defeat ESS.
I guess I don’t use remote start since I’ve not had an issue. Am curious what other issues you’ve experienced (e.g. “and more”)…

I tested my remote stop/start, and it works fine. Apart from the dash indicator (a known consequence and mild annoyance, comparatively), I'm still eager to understand any other issues associated with removing the second hood plunger. Calling it "lame" isn't helpful.

@jbaw

Remote Start will work in regard to some JL configurations if the plunger is disconnected but with other configuration's
it will not.

No hood safety if plunger is disconnected.

Issues with certain Tazer JL features if you have a Tazer JL.

Then there also can be off the wall EVIC messages / ESS related hiccups occasionally thanks to the plunger disco and more...

Consider learning how to use Google search and the forum search feature .... both will glean you plenty of info in regard to the lame way in question to defeat ESS..... Info in regard to what the actual job is of that hood plunger you disconnected and the other hood plunger.

I wonder why anyone would go out and spend over $50,000+- on a vehicle and then defeat ESS via the lame way in question... Yes, I know you can put a piece of black electrical tape over the EVIC Warning.. ....... To each his own though. Have fun with that JL of yours!

It sounds like you have had compatibility issues with removing the hood plunger and with your Tazer configuration. That's understandable. I don't have a Tazer, so I've not experienced those compatibility issues. It sounds like Tazers can be configured to disable the auto-stop-start feature alone without the need for an additional part, including the SmartStopStart you mentioned or removing the second hood plunger. Other readers may wonder why multiple solutions to the auto-stop-start problem would be in place simultaneously, including in your application. In any case, I hope that others interested in this subject can understand their options and ask any questions they may have. For me, I removed the second hood plunger to address the auto-stop-start issue in my 2024 JL and received the (albeit whispered) recommendation from my local Jeep dealership. No problems, except for the dash indicator. Your mileage may vary. ✌

I don't know why anyone would spend $100 just to shut off auto stop/start.
As a new Jeep owner, I wasn't initially aware of the Tazer device or its related functionality. Only after I joined this forum and did a deeper dive did I come across occasional mentions of the device...as well as any other number of esoteric accessories. The Tazer is still on my To Buy list, but for the fact that I don't yet need the functionality that would justify the expense.

I ordered the Autostart Eliminator, which costs less than the competing product, before my factory order JLU arrived at the dealer. It was purchased in good faith and functions flawlessly.

Don't bother wasting time with that jackass. Put him on Ignore and be done with it. His M.O. is to crap on any post he doesn't agree with.

And I wonder why they'd cheap out buying the ess only module vs being able to adjust tpms threshold, gear ratio, tire size, etc to save a few bucks? Seems like an incredibly limited subset of Jeep owners who will never change tire size, like 40psi rock hard tires, and find ess intrusive enough they need to spend money to permanently disable it. Seems only slighy less lame than disconnecting the hood plunger?

Jeep recommended aftermarket (got Tazer) when they couldn’t recal for gears and tires. Also being able to lower the TPMS and turn off annoying warning beeps, honks, chimes, lights, and the panic button that inadvertently gets pushed in my pocket made me wish I got it sooner.

If my only concern was start stop, push start button- push ESS button, I push a button for the guage display, or exhaust button, OR+, or MDS disable (mode) knob on my GC since they don’t default to as set at shutdown anyway.
