been driving mine all week and have to say im not at all bothered by the start stop. its not near as cumbersome as i thought. it doesnt turn off unless im at a stop for a while (prob greater than 30 seconds). it is fully started before i can even release my foot from the brake and be on the gas.

So, how does this work with manuals?

The dealer told me you can trick the Auto Start/Stop by plugging in a trailer hitch plug as well(He mentioned doing it on other Jeeps with the it.) I didn't go into the details since mine won't have the tow package.
You mean just the hitch plug with no wiring? Sounds like bs to me.

I don't know the details, but it may involve wiring the plug so it thinks there is a trailer connnected. I didn't order the the package that includes the trailer hitch so I didn't ask too many questions, but the person I'm dealing with is an actual Jeep owner so I doubt he would feed me a load of BS.

I've got a Wal Mart hitch receiver tail light that I could plug into my JL to test this out. It is on my JK for now, but I'll try and remember to swap it over tomorrow and then will report back.

The manual states that Auto S/S is shut off when trailer socket is inserted. I don't know if the onboard computer checks on power feed or has a simple switch to de-power it. I plan on using a powered receiver lite that inserts into the receiver and lights up when brake lites come on.
Dual purpose...defeats that d@@n Auto Start and provides an additional brake lite.

My 15 Cherokee has the stop/start...Ive gotten somewhat used to it, but it will sometimes lunge forward when you take your foot off the brake and kinda shudders with turning off and on. And sometimes it will turn off too soon and it hesitates when you try to go again...like being at a complete stop at a yield sign....the hesitation on take off is what bothers me the most. :headbang: ..and it may just be (I believe) 15 was the first year for that? Im not sure...so don't quote me but hopefully it be improved since then :fingerscrossed:

Picked up my JLU Sahara Tuesday night and have been driving with this feature for a few days. It truly isn't that noticeable when your music is at a decent volume. I do notice it when i let off the break to go, you can hear it start back up. I have noticed that there are a lot of reason it wont stop such as heat/air on full blast, if you are in stop and go traffic and move up a few feet it will not stop again, and possibly if you are on a hill (not sure about that one, it hasn't stopped on a hill for me a few times but could be another reason)

Not nearly as noticable as it is in my F150. When my truck shuts off, you know it. The first time my JL shut off, I didn't realize until I took my foot off the brake and proceeded to go... I still shut it off though.
