I’ve been reading a lot about the auxiliary battery and how it can die out every couple of years. And how it has the ability to leave you completely stranded. I am seeing a lot of people eliminating the auxiliary battery, has anybody done this? Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions? If all it does is handle the auto start stop feature and it is easily disabled, I would be interested in eliminating the auxiliary battery altogether.

Which engine do you have? 1st step is seeing if you have the aux battery.

I don’t know who your Washington Jeep dealer is; mine looks for any little excuse to refuse to do warranty work.

I wouldn’t do the auxiliary battery bypass until your Jeep is out of warranty.

Good luck.

I removed the aux battery from my '19 3.6v6 back in April or May. Replaced the main battery with a bigger AGM H7 battery and haven't looked back. I've put at least 10K miles on the Jeep since including hard driving in the San Juan mountains last month. I run a Tazer and have ESS turned off permanently.

If you are going to do the removal, take off the whole fender to do it. Took 20 minutes start to finish to remove the fender, remove the battery, and replace the fender. Hardest part of the process is getting the Aux positive cable snaked back up into the engine bay to attach to the main battery.

That's too bad, I bought my at Auburn Jeep (Bud Clary). I shopped around and the whole experience was great there compared to Renton and others. I haven't had to deal with service there yet but I will be soon when i get my first oil change. That's the other consideration i have is the warranty, but i don't want to get stranded somewhere with a brand new expensive vehicle either. Frustrating.

You don't have the aux battery behind the fender that you are hearing all of the bad reviews about. You have a 48V mild-hybrid battery on the belly of your Jeep.
Oh really?!?!?! hahaha, that's amazing, man now i feel like a dumb@$$!! LOL.
Which models have the Aux battery?
Thank you!!

Do you have a link to where i can find this info? I'm super interested, and (obviously) new to owning a Jeep. Thanks!

No particular model (trim). The 3.6 ESS is still currently available but only with a manual transmission. That's the way it has been for most of the last few model years.
Although, they will offer it with the automatic for brief periods. When I ordered mine 9/1/21 the online configurator said the 3.6 ESS was not available with the auto but my dealer was able to order it on his end.
