I've removed and taped neg cable from aux battery and pulled f42 last year, this winter battery has been struggling so i bought a new h7 battery. After installing the battery i noticed all of my settings were retained. I even touched the positive and negative terminals together to reset everything. How is this possible?

I've had battery out many times. All settings retained except the silly "theme" setting which always returns to factory red.

And is only an option on Rubicons as far as I know. My 21 Willys doesn’t have it. Wife’s 22 Rubicon does.

New battery and still getting a parasitic drain, full charger when i go to work 12hrs later down to 70% charge. My next step is gonna be to disconnect alternator and see if it drains, maybe a bag diode in alternator. Is there any way with the neg cable pulled from aux batt and f42 pulled that anything could be draining main battery?

This may be stupid but it cost 2 batteries on my BMW (Before I bought luxury Jeep LOL) But I kept the car FOB to close to the car and the car remained "activated" and drained 2 batteries before BMW ask how far is your key fob away. Never thought about it.. I moved it to the other room of the house and the next Battery lasted 3 years. My Jeep Fob has always been kept far away after that lesson.

This isn't a thing, at least for the Jeep. I sleep in mine about 70 days every year with the fob inside. At home the fob is about 10ft from the Jeep in my garage.
It may just be the BMW, but Im wasn't taking any chances. The BMW used to activate the seat settings, radio, teering wheel, etc, etc a lot of shit going on. and it did drain my battery twice. I'm just spit balling trying to throw out any ideas. Sorry if that offended you.

No offence at all. This comes up all the time, and I'm just trying to dispell the myth. Appreciate your thoughts. Text doesn't convey as much as a face to face conversation. Cheers!

By way of example, see this thread, and monitor the HVAC actuator assembly behind the glove box door in your Jeep as you're able. It is a known source of parasitic drain when malfunctioning. I've experienced it myself.

Part #68301847AA, if needed.

My wife's Mercedes did the same thing when she'd leave the fob in her car. She started taking it out and the battery issues went away.
