So a while back, wheni would turn off my 2019 Wrangler JL, I would hear what I thought was a gurgling sounds. A little investigation found I was low on coolent. Filled up the overflow bottle and low and behold the noise persisted. Well, I took the glove box out and found out what the weird noise was. Not really sure how to explain it, but here i go. The cover in the HVAC behind the glove compatment juat keeps going up and down, trying ro open and close over the cabin air filter. Anyone ever had this happen. I took a video. Is the actuator acting up, anyone else had this issue? Thanks in advance.

Literally asked this question last week or so on the JT forum... The response I got was this link
https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/sounds-like-coffee-brewing.82841/#post-1355309ông story short, some say the motor needs to be replaced or reprogrammed
My jeep is in the shop for CEL... So I'm hoping they'll fix the recirculating door issue too

Looks super easy to do. One connector and three screws. My wife's Toyota minivan had a similar problem with one of the actuators. It sounded like a typewriter, pretty much the same sound. The potentiometer (position sensor) was worn out so it kept losing track of where it was.

This is from the '23 Gladiator service manual. Looks the same, or similar enough, in the images.

That doesn't look like a bad part to replace at all. I know it's a bit hard twisting your body trying to get facing up under the dash in the passenger footwell, but if you can position yourself in such a way that you can see up there comfortably, most of the parts up there are pretty easy to access. Not like other vehicles where all those parts are hidden behind mounds of plastic and metal, the Jeep is pretty open down there from what I found.

That looks like a fun 2 hour replacement honestly. Easy Peasy!

While I wait for the new actuator to come in, curious if it is a straight swap, IOW does the cog position matter when installing the new one?

I've not had one of these out to look at it. Are you saying there is more than one way to put it together? Images of it online appear to show uneven spacing of the splines, probably indicating it is keyed to go on just one way.

@CWMC29 or anyone else that has replaced theirs, did you notice if the blend door fully closes in the down position when it cycles up and and down? Mine stops with about a 1/4 gap at the bottom. It seems like my actuator needs to be adjusted to close the door all of the way but I don't see any way of adjusting it.

There is a calibration operation mentioned in the above posted repair guide. See the last line in the instructions, I thought there was a calibration function in JScan but couldn't find it in the demo mode.

Have had this blend door issue going on in our 2018 JL Sahara for years and finally decided to figure out what it was. The forum search let me here, which led me to various other sources of info posted here and elsewhere. Ended up ordering a Mopar OEM replacement part off eBay and installed it yesterday with the help of a video I found on YouTube. Install was not bad overall. Just a few things to stay aware of as you go along. Totally fixed the issue and so far so good. We'll see how it does going forward. Thanks to all who contributed here! :like:
