My main battery did indeed die on Sunday, so I’m guessing that’s what it was.

If I can't afford to lose the big ground stud can I just remove the aux battery and tape up the cables at that end instead?

Yes, but adding a multi-stud terminal and leaving the disconnected aux battery in place is likely easier.

Remove the smaller negative wire from the Ground terminal (goes to Aux Battery) Tape it up so it cannot make contact. Pull fuse 42. When you have an opportunity, remove the Aux battery completely. I have been running like this for over a year. I do have a Tazer Mini, but the ESS option doesn't show up at all. I pushed the button once and the light came on, but it stays in this state, I have never had to push the button again.

I have the "updated" terminal configuration, if I do that I lose the big stud that my winch and amp connect to.

Post a pic. You are losing a wire not adding one? I'd have to see to understand. Thanks. Have good day

The one wire I would lose has the big stud attached to it now.

With the original terminal configuration this is what it looks like when you disconnect the aux ground. The big secondary stud is on the terminal for the main battery ground cable so you still have it available to attach additional grounds for aftermarket equipment.

With the updated terminal configuration this is what it looks when you disconnect the aux battery ground. The big secondary stud is on the terminal for the aux battery now and the remaining stud isn't big enough to add to.

People have added extension terminals but they seem very cobbled together and, assuming it would work, I'd rather take the time to just pull the aux battery and be done with it.

The solution to the "lost AUX stud problem" is to use the primary body ground stud on the side of the engine bay where the main ground cable to the battery is attached.

With the possible exception of a winch negative cable, it's safer to attach accessory negative wires there so they won't become unintended undersized connections from the chassis to the negative battery post (i.e. a fire risk) should the main ground cable become disconnected.

When I go aux delete Im also just going to remove the aux battery and leave the top cable as is. Doesnt look hard to get out from the bottom thru the fender liner. I dont want the dead carcass left in the Jeep.

That was my reasoning, as well.

Also I went back and double-checked, the only thing I have connected to the big stud is my winch ground. My amp is grounded to a chassis ground inside the cab.

When I removed the aux battery and cables and The control module, I actually had to remove the fuse box to get all the cables out. Then I had a custom jumper made to go from N3 to N1 , if I’m recalling correctly to make sure everything kept working. That was about a year ago. No issues since . The labeled one is stolen from another forum member

Thanks for the pics that helps as I have yet to actually see inside the aux box. If you go as far as to remove all the cables yes I agree you need to fool around with jumpers as you did. I am ok leaving the unused cables. So long as whatever cables are landed to the positive terminal of the aux battery remain connected or are reconnected together after the aux battery is removed there should be no need for jumpers as connecting all the positive cables within the aux box is the jumper.

The only thing i plan to do is remove the aux battery and fuse 42. Everything will appear as factory otherwise. I believe this is actually easier to do and to reverse to factory on the currently produced jeeps with the negative battery cables reversed from the previous jeeps.

I ended up using the battery box to mount my controller for my rock lights

I removed the aux battery the other day and pulled the 42 fuse, is there a way to make it so the auto start stop like goes away? I am not trying to read 63 pages of this thread.
