So Im going to make this thread to tell a little bit about the dstrac axle company. I know there was a post about it awhile ago and some questions about them. I went ahead and ordered an axle from them. For the price and the quality. It honestly cant be beat.
Ive gotten about 1000 miles onto the new axle and everything so far. The axles a beast. It is a low pinion, but i actually have more ground clearance and my pinion looks no different height wise than on the 44. It was custom made at 71” wheel mount surface with custom caster for my tall ass. I am at 6.2 degrees caster now with a good pinion angle at 5.5” Of lift. The axle has locking hubs and 8x6.5 pattern. It comes with thier own built in house locker. They build everything in house and the parts are incredibly huge. Also the axle shafts are lifetime, and the u joints are almost as big as my palm. The axle tubes are also triple sealed to prevent water mud and dirt from getting inside
It comes with a tie rod and a heim for a draglink. I ended up making my own draglink. From 7/8-7/8 heims and some 1-1/2” .250 wall chromoly. In doing so I had to raise the draglink up to the top of the knuckle. I then went ahead and built a new track bar bracket to match the draglinks angle. Now its perfect.
When the axle was at the shop I had them install new shock mounts further out next to the Cs to clear the coilovers at full droop, they contacted the frame before.
I ordered new 8x6.5 vision wheels which are incredibly light and a removable rash ring and wrapped them with some Maxxis 40” MT razers. The total weight of the tires and wheels actually came in 5lbs lighter than my old set up.
For the rear I just ordered some wheel adaptors from bora/motorsport tech. Horrible customer service. They make an excellent quality product but i will never order from them unless i absolutely have to. The told me 2-4 weeks to build them and it took almost 8 weeks. The entire axle was built in brazil and shipped to me in only 6. Everytime i called them they gave me a different excuse, and because I wasnt part of a company they had no priority to build them. And had I not have someone call from a business claiming i was thier customer and the adaptors were for me I dont think I would still have them.
anyways so far the new set up has been amazing If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me or the dstrac company. Their customer service is absolutely incredibly. He always responded to me and answered every question I had.
