Doorless Mirrors?

Moto - Sure. The video is public and if there is another solution to our mirror woes, the word should be spread!

Hey sir... I noticed that in your video, your EAG door screws/bolts are already black or darkened. How did you do that? I guess open question for others on here too. Did anyone paint or dip their screws or just buy black ones? I hate the chrome exposed.

I went with the Doubletake and Ram mounts too. Worked great. I'm familiar with them from the Dual Sport & ADV motorcycle scene. I got them through Rocky Mountain ATV and Motorcycle.

These do not move at 75 mph no vibration. I'm not sure what the logo are is designed for but it works functionally so I like it.

Yeah I was going to plasti-dip them, but didn’t want to put in the effort, so I wrapped them in 4x shrink tubing and bam. Done. M8/1.25 50mm length was perfect. Didn’t make contact with the body.

Actually, I saw someone respond to one of your posts. And I couldn't remember writing it, which is when I realized it was not Tax Phan, but Taxman. Easy to confused two cool dudes for each other, I suppose.

Awesome, thanks! Their website looked like it had JPeggz logo all over it which wasn't too my taste, doesn't look like its there! It's between this and the Motor City aftermarket

The logo is a sticker(s) that comes in the box but as you can see, I just chunked them. Good lucK on your choice.

I went with the Ram / doubletake option. The RAM ball was sticking out too far to not bug me so I cut the sleeve right at the point it widens

I did the opposite. Took off the EAG mirror and went with Doubletake! This should work better for us as I can now have mirrors installed whether or not the EAG doors are on. And the Doubletake's are small enough to store just about anywhere in the Jeep.

Any whistling from these mirrors? I used Jpeggz in the past -- love the foot pegs and the mirrors overall, but they whistle and it drove me nuts.

I too have EAG doors and the mirrors are atrocious, so this seems like a good fit for me. I also like that I could go doorless with this solution as well.

No whistling at all. It's a good set up. The only thing that could make it better would be a larger mirror as the round ones are somewhat small but will do the trick.

I adapted my Kikbax to work on the JL today. All it took was a little bending of the bottom bar that hooks into the door webbing strap. I messed up the powder coating a little bit but I don’t care about that. The plastic cover even fit back into place but it’s a little tight.

Did you modify the Kikbax for JK to fit the JL? I'd love to see pics of what you did. I have a JK set and recently traded for a JL and would like to do the same instead of buying another set.

My DoubleTake mirrors don’t arrive till Monday, but I got the RAM ball and arm installed already. Went to Home Depot to get shorter M8 bolts and washers.

Then I decided the exposed chrome on the RAM ball stem needed to be black so I dipped it. Much better.

What size M8 bolts did you get from HD? Also what did you use to dip the ram ball base?

I had intended to do the typical side mounted ball for the Doubletake Adventure mirror.
I was rummaging through my RAM parts and remembered I had a clamp that I had bought for mounting a GPS on rental or demo bikes.

It works perfectly to clamp to the grab handle.
Its higher than the side ball mount and I think provided a better view.
In fact I am really impressed with the field of vision of this mirror, it does not seem like a lessor option compared to the regular ones.

I also fear the mirror getting stolen so I remove it when I go to places like walmart.
This set up "holds" the position so taking on & off with just the clamp does not require realigning the mirror.
I like that I can also adjust the mirror from my normal seated position if needed.
