It's a really old thread, but I thought I'd mention a really easy solution to get the door harnesses out of the way. Unplug the door harness from its connector like you would when taking off the door. On the driver's side, rotate the plug 360 degrees counterclockwise, then plug it back in. On the passenger side, do the same with the plug in the clockwise direction. Now when you close the doors, the torsional tension will coil the harness upward as it bows.
This indeed is very helpful. Here are my pictures before/after (actually driver and passenger) but you get it.

The first one (passenger) is twisted upward and out of the way, while the second one (driver) is the usually pointy towards driver. I can also confirm this twisting method is completely harmless to the cables and door limit strap, and does not change how door open/close functions at all.

Ya, I noticed it right away. Been looking at it for months now, hoping a solution will jump out at me. Im going to try turning the plug 360 and see what happens.

It works very well, before the twist it actually shaved my left leg like a hipster...now the space is free up, I can actually use my dead pedal.

Enjoy the strap, my new ram 1500 door slammed open and hype-extended with 60 MPH winds last month when I opened it. 2 weeks in the body shop, new paint, hinges, and plenty of $ later..

Yep! Works great! Turned the plug 360 degrees, and now the strap stays close to the door. No more rubbing my leg! Thanks the the 'no cost' modification!

I tried rotating counterclockwise which didn't really work. Then I tried rotating clockwise and it worked great! Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I should point out that when I rotated the plug, I did it while holding the plug so that the female sockets were facing me which is probably not the intended start from orientation you were expecting. For others reading this thread, suffice it to say, if one way doesn't work - the other way likely will.

My third Jeep mod. 1 was a don't follow me sticker, 2 was a cargo liner. This one cost me nothing and is the best yet!

Just found this thread - I'll give it a try. I do wonder if/how twisting the wire will put a crimp in it when the door is opened wide. Any concerns about this?

No issues... I’ve had mine twisted for almost a year now. I just turned it a half a turn, unhook it turn strap over and re hook it. Works great, keeps strap up against the door. I’m in shorts 99 percent of the time so this irritated the crap out of me.....:)

It has bugged me from day one, but have been living with it. I will try the twist trick...
