Just curious if the new 2024 Wranglers accumulate mileage while being flat towed behind an RV? I know our 2012 JK didn't and I'm hoping that hasn't changed for the new JL's, just looking for confirmation. Thanks...

Thank you!
Oops, I didn't see that you were referring to the 2024. That, I don't know. So, I looked in the owner's manual. I didn't find anything on mileage accumulating during flat towing.

Yep, I didn’t either, that’s what prompted me to post the question. I’m assuming this probably hasn’t changed with the mid-cycle refresh and if the 2018-2023 model don’t accumulate mileage when being towed, hopefully the 2024’s won’t either. I see Blue Ox finally updated their web sight to include the 2024 Wrangler, and it’s using the same base plate model number, so hopefully not that much has changed.
Just hoping someone with a 2024 can confirm. Thank again for your reply.

Drop the transfer case in neutral and push it down the street .1 miles and see if the odometer ticks? That's one way to test it out. I would assume not, that would be stupid if it did.

LOL! Yea, I’ll get right on that! We don’t actually have it yet, so that’s not even an option! It should be delivered in about 2 weeks, thus the reason I was looking for some input from someone who already has a 2024 and may have it already set up to tow.

Are you aware of any vehicles less than 20 years old that increment the odometer when you flat tow? I feel like that would be a ridiculous design, you're not putting mileage on the drivetrain, just the axels really. We have a hill in our subdivision, maybe I can let it fly down that, the curve at the bottom isn't that sharp so I should be able to turn without power steering.

With all the above being said.

Although the odometer doesn't register towed milage, you are still adding milage.

Every mile you flat tow goes “on” the Jeep. Tires, axels, bearings, springs, etc. and they should be maintained on actual milage. (They turn, spin, wear while towed, too)

I keep a running tab of how many miles I have flat towed my 2021 for that reason.

Yeah, the only things not turning are the engine and transmission.
