Did you bring in 12v from the 7 pin to charge Jeep battery while towing?Installed Mopar RV tow wiring harness. Works like a champ.

In the harness section that gets installed in front of the vehicle there is a blue wire that brings 12 volts DC to the engine compartment. I haven’t yet bought a DC to DC charger yet, but when I do the POS+ will attach on the blue wire. Looks like a #12 or #10 gauge. I’ll probably purchase the RVi DC to DC charger this week.Did you bring in 12v from the 7 pin to charge Jeep battery while towing?
If so where did you tap it?
I just go my mopar harness in today. Still waiting for the damn jeep. Sitting in Utah currently.
I was looking at the RVi charger as well.In the harness section that gets installed in front of the vehicle there is a blue wire that brings 12 volts DC to the engine compartment. I will also be using the RViBrake3, no need to install a brake controller in the motorhome.I was looking at the RVi charger as well.
When you get it hooked up, if you could post any photos on what you did that would be sweet.

The RVi3 also has a dash indicator that also shows towed braking power along with towed battery voltage. All of the mfg towed braking devices are expensive, no doubt.Lots of options. I tow my JLR behind my class C RV. I went with the Blue Ox tow bar, the Demco Stay and Play Duo braking system. Not cheap. Planned to do it myself but found a professional installer. So glad I did. Works flawless, permanent install, progressive braking, and everything hidden behind firewall and brake pedal. Super clean install. Nothing to do but plug in to your outlet on your RV and front bumper.
I spent about $500 to $600 on installation. There is an optional wireless indicator that you set on your RV dash that confirms the Jeep is braking. Gives you peace of mind.
Good luck.
Hi there @KCSgtMaj, could you show how you tied it into the Mopar harness? I understand the blue wire is for braking input to a brake controller, and shouldnt have constant power, so I’m confused why this works? Im thinking I will have to tie into the black and white wires on the harness.![]()
RVi DC to DC charger installed pulling power from the blue wire that I mentioned earlier. velcro’d to the top of the fuse box. Simple install, fused positive with ground to battery terminals and rv connection the same Positive and negative coming from the Mopar flat tow wiring harness.
I hooked up the blue wire to the black wire inside the 7 pin connector. I supposed I could have explained it better in the original post.Hi there @KCSgtMaj, could you show how you tied it into the Mopar harness? Thanks!
The MOPAR RV wiring harness is all plug and play and can be ordered from the factory. The only change is the relocation of the blue wire in the head of the 7 pin connector to allow 12 volts to power the DC to DC charger from motorhome. The charger is necessary to charge the battery due to the brake controller using the towed vehicle battery to run the compressor. Works like a charm. Also the RVi dc to dc charger connects Wirelessly to the RVi dash readout and let’s you know what the braking and charging system is doing. It works well for what I have, if I had air brakes then I would have gone another route.I guess I’m old fashioned, I don’t like any auxiliary wiring connected directly to the Jeep. I use the M&G braking system that works off the air brakes on the MH. The tail light wiring is separate from the Jeep with two magnetic brake/ taillights that sit in the rear steel bumper with a plug mounted under the bumper. I also ran a separate charge line to the main battery, sort of redundant but the Jeep will stay hooked up for 7-10 days and I know the battery will stay charged.
