All seriousness - why are you worried? Newer jeeps have sufficient anti-theft built in (immobilizer, etc).

Are you running around with with a gold skid plate? you in a high crime are?

I’ve never been concerned about someone stealing mine, and given that lots of wranglers roll without doors and tops, and rarely if ever do I hear about one being stolen, I wouldn’t take extra precautions.

except the time/energy you spent getting it set up the way you wanted it.

even if someone gave me a pile of money to replace what got stolen (and even if i could get another one like what i have) it would take months to get another one all sorted.
I am retired so I have plenty of time and even tho I am an old fat drunk, I have plenty of energy. If mine were stolen today I could be up and running in a week with a new one. literally just need to install the lift about 6-8 hours of my time, install the skids a couple hours of my time and tires maybe an hour of my time waiting at the tire shop. this is my 5th rubicon since 2013 so I never get too attached. I have owned probably 30+ new vehicles not counting 30+ motorcycles and really I only have a few that I wished I had kept.

cool for you, if that's what you want to do.

i've got way more than a few hours into mine, and don't like having to do things over again because of someone else. and i've got far better things to do with my time.

Wranglers are the 10th most stolen car in the province I live in and there is a LOT of car theft since the cops don't do anything.

my vehicles are all insured so if one gets stolen it is just a sign from above to start over.....nothing on any of my vehicles is not replaceable.

I agree with both of you.

Objectively, neither my Jeep nor any tangible thing inside of it is irreplaceable, should it ever be stolen.

That said, the also-tangible part of my life that I worked to buy the vehicle, to maintain it, to improve it, to enjoy it...that time is also stolen from me, and it remains forever lost. It won't and can't be restored, even if I was able to capture, torture and kill the thief.

I'm not one to bandy about "It's insured!" lightly. We take these things seriously because we should do so.

From the video, it doesn't seem like it was a JL that was stolen, unless I'm missing something. Short of a relay attack, I'm not convinced theft is a real issue for new Jeeps.

I have a cheap tile hidden in my Jeep and a full time tracker. I hate thieves. They get in and defeat the on board GPS first. I can set up a GEO fence. I get an email and text if gets outside my neighborhood.

****Notice, I said, “Deter” because I know some guys that can steal a car in under 60 seconds**** (Just as the movie states).

I checked the forum for any post linking to this and got some good info. This video is also pretty good as well. I keep my vehicles garaged but if someone is determined, they will get it. Just thought this video had some good points in it. It will at least slow them down long enough to get your weapon of choice. 😎

Even with inflation a 9mm bullet is cheaper than an insurance deductible. Just my opinion.
