A lot of thefts around here, are done by tow trucks. In seconds they back up,and a remote control wheel lift picks up one end of the vehicle, and they drive away. Nothing is going to stop them, and it happens so quickly, they're gone before you know it.
This fellow, a legit repo agent, makes it plain just how quickly it can happen.

I agree with both of you.

Objectively, neither my Jeep nor any tangible thing inside of it is irreplaceable, should it ever be stolen.

That said, the also-tangible part of my life that I worked to buy the vehicle, to maintain it, to improve it, to enjoy it...that time is also stolen from me, and it remains forever lost. It won't and can't be restored, even if I was able to capture, torture and kill the thief.

I'm not one to bandy about "It's insured!" lightly. We take these things seriously because we should do so.
Agree! My wife and I take a lot of road trips in our Jeep. The last thing we need is to be stranded somewhere with no Jeep or a disabled Jeep. Just because it's insured doesn't mean there can't be a significant impact. We subscribe to the principle of adding multiple theft deterrents to make it more difficult for these sleazebags.
