****Notice, I said, “Deter” because I know some guys that can steal a car in under 60 seconds**** (Just as the movie states).

I checked the forum for any post linking to this and got some good info. This video is also pretty good as well. I keep my vehicles garaged but if someone is determined, they will get it. Just thought this video had some good points in it. It will at least slow them down long enough to get your weapon of choice. 😎
A key operated battery cut out mounted in the center console is kind of good to use.

🤔 Not sure I’d wanna cut into my console But if it works for you go for it! I’ll probably get the Tazer Mini when mine comes in.

All the countless hours of labor reinstalling mods is DISGUSTING
I guess if you don't like doing it but for me it is no big deal, in fact it is something I enjoy doing.

All seriousness - why are you worried? Newer jeeps have sufficient anti-theft built in (immobilizer, etc).

Are you running around with with a gold skid plate? you in a high crime are?

I’ve never been concerned about someone stealing mine, and given that lots of wranglers roll without doors and tops, and rarely if ever do I hear about one being stolen, I wouldn’t take extra precautions.
Actually, my Skid plates are golden yes. They're all metalcloak. ;)

cool for you, if that's what you want to do.

i've got way more than a few hours into mine, and don't like having to do things over again because of someone else. and i've got far better things to do with my time.
And there is the replacement insurance amount for all the mods that will surely leave me $20K short or more. Hope my wife doesn't read this.

I enjoyed the research, the doing of the mods, but I did it all not just to do it, but to enjoy it and tweak it as I explore/experience the off-road/overlanding fun. Why would I want to do it again when I got it the way I want? Seems many steps backward for me.

This shouldn’t be looked at as ”I have insurance, I’ll just get a new one.”
It has to be looked at as nobody (in charge) cares that criminals are getting away with all this shit. Shoplifting, auto theft, muggings and squatters are all getting away with this like it’s a third world country. Every time a criminal gets away with a crime they become more aggressive and bold and to what point. Your cell phone today, your car tomorrow, your home the following day and your life the day after that. It’s not just you as the victim, it’s your neighbors, your kids, your parents, your wife or husband (significant other) and your friends. Maybe you got lucky and only lost your vehicle, but what if you are the next victim when the criminals decide to take it to the next level.

I don't think the majority of Jeep owners are necessarily worried...but there's nothing wrong with being concerned or prepared. You may be lucky to live in an area that has low (or no) crime, but that's not the case for everyone, and it is especially problematic close to the US/MX border. Coincidentally, I just saw a thread about this exact scenario here:

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/stolen-i-hate-thieves.111270/

This is only one such thread, but there are many others here in the forums too. I'm glad that you are not experiencing this in your area, but car thefts have risen dramatically in recent years, especially in the Southwest US.

Just for fun, I did this little security "mod" to my JL, although it isn't something I would use every day; just for overnight parking in sketchy areas (and please read the disclaimer at the end of my post):

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/cheap-jeep-hacks-show-em-off-here.18785/post-2588050

Best of luck to everyone and let's keep our beloved Jeeps from the bad guys!

Doors off, keys in cupholder. If it disappears, I file a claim, get paid, move on.
Zero F**ks Given
if the keys are left in it, sometimes insurance won’t pay.
Can confirm. My wife used to manage a State Farm office.

Read your policy's declarations pages and seek out the language concerning restitution after a reported theft event. Better yet, call your agent and ask salient questions about what you, the insured, might be liable for if you foolishly don't give any Fs about your personal security posture.

A lot of thefts around here, are done by tow trucks. In seconds they back up,and a remote control wheel lift picks up one end of the vehicle, and they drive away. Nothing is going to stop them, and it happens so quickly, they're gone before you know it.

my vehicles are all insured so if one gets stolen it is just a sign from above to start over.....nothing on any of my vehicles is not replaceable.

Everything in my jeep is replaceable, yet still worth more than the scumbag that would steal it. 🤔

With the various ways to steal a Jeep via Canbus or fob signal amplification, how would the insurance company know you left the key in it? That is, of course, assuming that yours was not the 1 in 10,000 that actually get recovered and the key is still there.
