Beyond being completely illegal, you'd need a tune to remove the DEF related DTC and limp mode. You don't even need to physically remove the DEF system, just a tune to disable it. Again, totally illegal.

That's one of those fun things about that sort of federal law. Every state in the country may not have their own individual law about it, but they have all adopted the federal law.

So it is in fact in all 50 states illegal on both a federal and a state level. If you don't know too much about federal law, a lot of times when you break a federal law, it doesn't mean the fed's prosecute you. It means the state will prosecute you for the federal crime. It just depends on whether the feds feel it's a big enough deal that they want to prosecute it.

It's just like Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), some states don't have their own guidelines, but in those cases they follow the federal guidelines, and if those federal guidelines are broken, you will be prosecuted on a state level.

Strangely enough I actually have a lot of secondhand knowledge of federal laws and federal crimes. I got few family members who make really dumb decisions.

So in a state like Texas, where you can wholeheartedly stage 2 tune your diesel and no one will ever find out, The state has even gone so far as to making it even easier to get away with it as of January 1st of this year. That being said if the state police pull you over and they see you have a tampered with emission system, you will get a ticket, it could possibly be a criminal offense, and your vehicle will be towed.

It's just one of those things where it's as simple as keeping your mouth shut. I guess not everyone's that smart though.

There was a fb group that dealt with that topic. It's the only group I've joined where the question was "Are you a nark?" I'm pretty sure the group is gone.

We discuss lots of things that are illegal here. Hell, I told an FBI agent point blank that I planned on continuing to break the law by speeding. I just planned on not getting caught. No, FBI agents do not have a sense of humor.

What tune are you running? Where did you get your delete plates? I know most places in the United States don't sell them anymore. Also what brand straight pipe are you running?

Figure if you're offering to help people, you should at least tell people a little more about your build so that you come off as more trustworthy and not like a underfunded EPA agent.
