How far are your trips it doesn’t seem like you drive a lot
I'm close to many offroad options, so I don't have to drive too far for fun. This is a screenshot from OnX Maps of trails from my home base, and many are still unmarked. So you are correct, I don't drive a lot (from a mileage perspective).

Yeah, I tend to use Trails Off Road a lot more now due to a similar level of what can be perceived as noise with OnX. OnX has its uses, but I prefer to focus on quality over quantity when looking for new trails.

Gotcha I just know that the 3.0 diesel is really not designed for short trips but if you’re going places and really pushing that engine, I guess that’s fine but it takes like a half hour for these things to really get to where they need from a emissions standpoint that when you take all these short trips, these things are known to problems That’s why I didn’t get the Eco diesel ram because I really do excel in a lot of long distance driving, but not really so much in short distance driving

You can do short trips with the ecodiesel. Just drive it for a while every week or two to blow it out and it's fine.

Hey, sry to hear this. Coule quick questions
At what mileage did this happen? What year is your Eco-Diesel?
Under factory warranty? What is warranty on the DEF tank?
Glad its under warranty and will be fixed soon
Thanks
I like your questions man, exact same questions I wanted to ask!

I'm at 25k miles, 2022 JLURD, so it's covered under the regular 3/36 warranty. I don't know if it would be covered past this warranty under the standard extended emissions warranty. That's a good question.
Ho-lee shit balls!!! Well on the plus side, I'm not worried about my Jeep now. I got a 2021 with almost 50,000 mi.

You're in Utah though @DGT , why not get a stage 2 and never have to worry about this s*** again!?

I mean my first year of ownership was driving my 3.0 Wrangler 2,000 ft to work, and then after work I would take it on a 10 mi highway round trip. On the weekends however we were doing probably 200 to 400 mi every weekend. Nowadays my mileage is 20 mi to work twice a day all highway. I probably still put a good 400 to 600 mi on my Jeep every week if I had to guess? Lately I haven't been driving as much. 😥

OP additional info:

In addition to the P206D code, I'm now showing "P2BA9 - insufficient reductant quality". My DEF concentration measures 32.031%, within specification, so I presume this is part of the sensor issue of the P206D.

I can also confirm that I can duplicate this DEF sensor issue by driving in 4LO for around 10 minutes, every time, without fail. (the CEL goes away when driving in 2H after three starts)

Dealer appointment is later this month. I'll update when I have an official repair plan.

So bizarre, definitely interested in seeing what the outcome is here.

When my DEF level was recently low I did put the Jeep in 4Lo for a while, turned it off and on a few times to see if there were any changes related to DEF, nothing obvious happened.

Any new updates?
My Jeep has been at the dealer for the past couple of weeks. They could not confirm the solution to the problem, so they opened a "star" (?) case with corporate and ordered a new DEF tank to see if that fixes the problem (DEF tank availability has been the delay). It arrived last Friday. I will get it back this week and update this post with details.

UPDATE from OP:

Picked up Jeep 4 days ago with a new DEF tank installed. Took it offroad over the weekend to verify that the error didn't come back. Unfortunately, the P206D code came back soon after shifting to 4L. I cleared the code and repeated the same process several times - in 2H or 4H, no code. In 4L, code comes on within seconds to minutes. P206D is a permanent code again.

I'll update as warranted.

Latest from OP:

The dealer tech, with the help of opening a Star case with Jeep corporate, diagnosed the P206D error by building a new wire harness from the PCM to the DEF tank and concluded that the wiring connector at the DEF tank was "likely" bad. They ordered and installed the new connector.

It doesn't sound like they are 100% sure that this was the problem. FYI, they do not know of a link between my experience having the error ONLY occur while in 4LO vs 4HI or 2HI.

4 weeks at the dealer (2 weeks each time) to diagnose and resolve this error. I imagine if it happens again to another Jeep, the repair will be much quicker.

Appreciate the update. Wiring can be a challenging diagnosis
