If you don’t need the 7pin trailer harness plug then the quadratec trailer wire harness is the best bang for the buck. But it only has a flat 4 pigtail. The lenth is damn near perfect and the wire loom and wire ties are set pretty close to perfect.

I needed to have a hitch installed on my Liberty as I bought it used so I purchased a hitch from UHaul and had them install it. Or so I thought. After about an half hour they told me they were unable to get the bolts fully tightened and were afraid they may snap.

OK, don't worry about it, I'll take care of it myself, I told them. And I did. Not a big issue as all it took was a little muscle to get the bolts cranked in just right.

Oh, and I never did install any electrical hook-up. Used the hitch only for a cargo carrier which is all I intended it for.

But who knows? The person who purchased my Liberty last year may be scratching their head when if they decide to tow a trailer and go to plug in an electrical connection.

To some a trailer hitch needs to have a electrical plug-in for it to be an useful addition to a vehicle. The dealership could have been more transparent as to what their intention was regarding the hitch installation.

The harness for the towing wires will require the removal of trim panels from the front to the rear along the lower part of one side and removing the front right flare(fender). It will take leaving it at the dealer most of a day or longer. It's a big job.
Not necessarily. Removal of the tail lights, a few zip ties underneath up to the battery. Job done.

I would tell them to take it off and refund your money back or go out there and take it off and attempt to return it if they refuse… I done this with snake oil window ”clear” tint and I did eventually get my money back.

This was the view through my prescription sunglasses.

Never had polarized sunglasses or prescription sunglasses until very recently. My first drive with them everyone’s windows looked all fugged up. I kept expecting some scene from They Live to happen. Drove me crazy until I just quit paying attention to nearby vehicles.

I almost aways had them, probably for half my life at this point. I am very sensitive to glares/reflections... Hence I was easily sold on snake oil tint when they claimed it would reduce glare.

Not sure what happened. It looked ok when I proofed it. But anyway. I went to the parts counter to see what happened only to find out that it is sold seperately. The accessory tech didn't mention that the harness didn't come with it. They called the tech and he's out to lunch, and they tell me that the harness costs as much as the hitch!. So I have a hitch that may cause me to get a ticket if I use it. It seems that almost every trip that I make to the dealership ends in dissappointment. I'll probably end up taking it to a local truck accessory shop.
What part of Michigan is this dealer in?

I feel like you've left me wanting more...

This reminds me of the old days when someone wrote a letter that didn't fit on the front, so they wrote "OVER" on the bottom so we'd know to look on the back of the paper to find the rest of the letter... That way we'd know they hadn't died mid-letter...

Only issue is, we didn't get the "OVER" and remainder of this message...

To the OP, what are you wanting/needing a hitch for? A jeep is not designed to pull a lot of weight and nothing that requires brakes. Probably 95% of the trailers pulled only have a 4 pin. The JKs only came with a 4 pin and that harness plugged in at the tail light. 4 and 5 pin harnesses are available that plug in there... simple.
Are you pulling a trailer with brakes? Electric or hydraulic? Either will need a 5 pin. Back up lights a 5 pin. Back up lights and electric brakes a 6 pin. Now if you want power too, yeah the 7 pin.
But really the hitch and the 4 or 5 pin harness are two of the easiest mods YOU can do with only a tool or two.
7 pin is nice to have, myself I like having power back there but do you need it?

Oh, a Jeep owner unhappy with his dealer.

Please take a number and go to the back of the line...

I'm very happy with my dealer...I've never gone back there.
