You can get a Wrangler, or any car, without AC? What configuration is that on the site? Thats sucky but still interesting.
The base sport model has no AC, but it is an option. It’s standard on the sport S and higher trim levels.

I know you (OP) didn’t, but unless one is dead-solid-certain that he’s going to keep a vehicle until he dies, I can’t imagine a more short-sighted and long-term moronic decision than choosing to “save” $1300 by not ordering air conditioning.
Good luck selling it.

Yea, it’s definitely something that should only be left off for a Jeep that’s going to be turned into a racing buggy or something.

I would never make a deal on a vehicle where they add something that complex. Seems like a bad idea. Why not just order one that has a/c.

I don't disagree but I would think the PCM may have to be alerted, or have the option "turned on." I think it'd want to know for idle control and fan control if nothing else.
The PCM just probably runs checks to see if the AC is running, not if it's actually there. Since it's never running, there's no adjustments needed. Now when they plug everything in, the PCM will see it when it runs.

Tough crowd. OP asks for opinions about how long this should take. Ends up being roasted for getting a non-A/C vehicle and having it added. Hey, stuff happens and if that's how he could get into a Wrangler I'm not going to lambaste him over it. I'm just glad he's in a Wrangler!

@Riderkjo I hope your A/C install is done by now and that you're enjoying your new Jeep!

The salesman told me that there's an idler in place of the compressor until it's installed, but he couldn't tell me what the little dial to the left of the interior light dimmer does. At least he was able to connect the wife's phone to Bluetooth.
Don’t worry, nobody knows what that dial does.

Not everyone knows what it takes to have a complete AC system installed.. I can see a salesman downplay it to make the deal. I certainly do not know everything about everything and I do rely on others at times for guidance where I do not have the knowledge. I am surprised they offered it as well. If the tech is doing another it must be more common than we think but still scratching my head they would offer it on today's vehicles as it is as everyone points to very complex. I would still love to have proximity locks and from the thread I'm following it is not likely if it did not come from the factory setup. This I would think is way more complex than that but maybe more pushed as a necessity in a location such as Texas making it a supported dealer option to move them off the lot.

Anyway.. please do keep us updated on this. Very interested to hear how it ends regardless of time.

Any BTW to help with your orig Q - I think the install time is absurd. Even with from scratch it should not take more than 2-3 days. 1 day tops to pull the dash.. another to put it back and 1 day to mount the brackets/compressor/run hoses and condenser. Maybe another day tops if needed to finish the install/program. They can't be working on it every day all day at that time.

I have to say. I think you got played here. A salesman will say whatever the (*(& to get the sale. I seriously can't believe a Texas dealership would have any without A/C and me being someone who's buying a vehicle wouldn't work a deal where a local dealer installs it LOL. I bet its going to be a crap install and your jeep will have to be ripped apart to get it all done.

Do you have the Jeep in possession? If you dont you can just cancel the order. Work out a deal with another off lot? If Price is a concern go over to Finnegan JCD and check there. My Jeep was less than 35k with LSD/ Hard Top and 8-speed and A/C. Honestly I didnt even think A/C was optional equipment.

I didn't know you could buy a car, any car, without AC anymore. Figured it would be about as optional as spark plugs these days.
Don't let all the people with Teslas know spark plugs aren't optional...

Per the OP's first post he said it was purchased a few weeks ago. I think that ship has sailed. For good or bad or otherwise the dealer is installing the A/C. I don't think it's outside a dealer's capability to add A/C (depends on the dealer) but to debate the pros and cons of having the dealer add the A/C is pointless. Many people here are saying he got played, taken advantage of, whatever. Aftermarket A/C is a real thing and solved their particular situation... I just hope he likes his Jeep when it's all said and done.

Update on the runaround... Feel free to roast me for buying a vehicle without AC, my dad can still beat up your dad!
Wife and I decided that we couldn't get our point across over the phone so we insisted on a meeting with the service and sales managers. Service manager told us that it's taking longer than expected because they use Vintage Air, a third party, to perform the installation and they forgot to order a part, and it's not a Mopar unit like I was promised. He swears up and down that it's standard procedure and it will be covered under my extended warranty if there are any issues. That almost escalated from verbal to physical... Sales manager told me the vehicle was taken to the shop and should have been ready last Tuesday the 21st. I never received a call last Tuesday so I walked into the service manager's office to get an update and he told me that the vehicle was just dropped off that morning. He swore up and down that the salesman dropped the ball, misunderstanding, yadda yadda... I convinced him to write a 'we owe' for a set of roof rails and made it clear that everything better be done exactly as promised, or we would be having a meeting with the GM and owner. As of last Friday, he promised to have the vehicle back in my possession today, the 28th. I'm starting to wonder if there was an accident with my vehicle and they've been trying to fix that...
The salesman offered to give me a discount on a 4 pin wiring harness because I mentioned installing a trailer brake. Even my wife laughed at that...

The loaner car now has over 1,200 miles, good luck selling that as 'new'.
