Dash mount for hula dancer..?

Has anyone successfully mounted a hula figure on their 4xe dash? The strip of blue charging lights kills the usable space in the center, and it looks dumb off-center in the deeper pockets to the left or right.

I see there’s a metal mounting plate for sale that covers the entire tray area, meant for phone and tablet mounts. But even if I cover all the screw holes with some material I don’t need that much flat area and I don’t feel like dropping $60 on this solution!

Before I MacGyver a little platform for this dude I figured I should ask all you slick pros here. Anyone with experience on this? Thanks much!

Thanks, interesting product. Any experience with how cleanly it can be removed? I mean, AFTER he's danced his last hula..

Micahpop has a good answer.
You could use sugru to build a platform up from that groove under the dancer. Make it higher and use a fork to scratch lines into the sugru and you can have a mini-volcano under your hula dancer. Clean off on metal or plastic is easy never cleaned it off leather tho. And it will need to wrap the edge of the dancer platform to hold it with glue between the dancer platform and sugru. The bottom of sugru can be shaped into the groove in the dash for a tight fit. Sugru alone is not very sticky. YMMV

I'm stupid OCD but mine is actually offset on the dash to the right of the tray.

Volcano!.. very cool idea. So you're saying use a big wad of it like modeling clay directly into the tray. I could figure out how to avoid the leather, but still a little skeptical of how cleanly it will release when I need it to. Especially a few years down the road.

Hmmm... Good to know. I may be forced to test my limits with it if I don't find a doable (for me) solution for the center.

I actually have not had any experience in removing sugru after it's hardened but from a quick search, it seems like it wouldn't be too hard to do.

Another option which might make future removal a bit easier/cleaner would be to place 3M double sided tape down first, then a small piece of plastic or metal and then build the sugru platform on top of that.

An excellent idea. I was imagining something like that to begin with, but the platform material could really be anything at that point.. as long as it can be made to the right height and width. Which I guess is the ultimate benefit of the moldable sugru.
