I went with the GoPro and GoPro Labs firmware to make it turn on/record, and off automatically. That way it's good for off-roading, too.

I did the upper dash USB mod to easily connect it.

What’s the “upper USB mod” more info please

Very easy mod, 15-20 mins tops, cheap, and highly recommended to keep your dash looking clean.

Parts:
- Dual PD 45W USB C Charger Socket
- 12 Volt Power Adapter

You can get any USB socket you like, and it doesn't have to be this one. I got this one specifically because most USB-C sockets on Amazon have their own built-in on/off switch, and you would need to manually turn them on every time you start the car. This one is the opposite, it defaults to on, and you can manually turn it off if you want to.

The 12v power adapter connects to the back of your cig lighter, and gives you 12v out. You then connect the USB socket to it and mount it on the upper dash, anywhere you want. The cig lighter is switched power, so tapping into it will work perfectly for phones, cameras, etc.

You will need to drill a hole to mount the USB socket (like in my picture), or you can simply run USB cables and hide them in the dash if it's more permanent.

I was really hoping to tap into the power behind the mirror, so I can mount the dash am up high, next to the rear view mirror area. I did this my my daughters Tacoma, with this handy adaptor: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DMW3DML/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

i think I’ll email the company to see if they are considering making anything for the Jeep. It’s great, it literally took 2 mins to plug in the dash cam and have a super clean set up. And no running wirings anywhere or drilling holes!

If anyone has found a way to do it, please let me know.

It's not difficult to run a power cable up the A pillar and along the top of the windshield - there's already a good gap to stuff the wire into. If you remove the screws in the pillar handle, the plastic cover just snaps off. I have run the hardwire kit, including power and cable from rear camera, down the a pillar. At the base of the passenger side pillar, there is a gap that leads under the dash, where I attach to the aux switch "always on" and "ignition" wires (my cam uses both). BTW I use wago lever connectors for this, because I have multiple small loads.

Anyone know of a dashcam that has a “go pro” style mount?
Yes - a "GoPro" ;-)

Anyway there's a dashcam mode that can pretty well do everything you need, if you already have one.

Of course the worst part of that is that it sticks out like a sore thumb, whereas nobody seems to steal dashcams - do they?

Installed my new Rove3 today!
I really like it so far. I don't need a cabin camera, so I mounted it all the way up to just to the left of the rearview mirror.
It took me about 3 hours because I took a lot of trim apart to completely hide the wires in mounting the power cord and the cord to the rear camera, which I mounted on the rear crossbar just above the light. It actually gets a pretty decent view out the back window of my soft top despite the tire being back there.
The touch screen works great haven't played much with the app on my phone yet but I like how the screen blacks out and shows you your speed and a compass when you aren't actually using it. Thank you to the guys posting all the pics and giving me advice I'm glad I chose this one :)
One thing I would change is the white background to the sticky pad that mounts to the windshield if it were black you wouldn't even see it there at all but the white rectangle makes it stand out a bit.

It's not difficult to run cables (and properly hide them) anywhere in this car
Car?

We need an intervention here, people.

This one has not accepted totally the spirit and pride of Jeep ownership yet.
