im thinking of BlackVue SKU: KRHQD-752XP-32G, pricey but seems to check off all boxes including power adapter kit with battery discharge prevention, etc.

Question for guys who have rear camera; did camera come with quick disconnect plug or did you have to add one in the cable? For us with hardtops, i'm thinking of routing rear camer along the underside of the hardtop (mopar headliner will completely hide the wire) then add disconnect plug between windshield and freedom panels so it can be quickly disconnected if taking hardtop off or if freedom panels are removed no need to disconnect.

I don't have a picture handy, but I stuck rear camera on the last cross member so I didn't have to worry about taking the top off. The spare does impact the view to some degree, but I was willing to make that trade off.

i third Viofo ;-) Running T130 model, its awesome! Super smooth install, cant see it under the rear view mirror, has both forward facing/interior and rear camera.. Ive hardwired it as well but didnt play with the parking feature. My install was little bit diff as i needed to tap my trigger off cigarette lighter but pretty easy to do with wire tap (since i didnt buy AUX OEM group)

second picture is from drivers eye point of view I don’t even see it when driving.

Came across this video the other day from a tech youtube channel that I watch periodically. The gist of it is whatever you get, don't spend too much, they're all basically the same. Just find one that has the features you're after that's affordable and go for it.
Then again, Consumer Reports says, " With dash cams, it turns out Mom was right: You get what you pay for. "

Catching vandals may be a problem. I used to volunteer at our local foodbank. They had a great many cameras. Often miscreatents were caught full face on camera. They were NEVER able to identify a single one. Just don't go in thinking that you'll nab any perps that mess with your ride.

The best solution remains, if you have one, a garage. And...don't forget, the footage may be used against you if you have an bad moment.

Great conversation on dash cams. Has any one hardwired one in instead of using the "outlet" for power?

i did mine. you can buy a split connector for the back of the lighter to keep that port open. the dash comes apart fairly easy.

I have the Garmin mini in two of our cars. We were able to tap into the power in the rearview mirror with an adaptor so it’s a super easy install. Does anybody know if we can do that with the Jeep? Or maybe someone can tell me if their 22 or 23 Rubicon has power to the rear view mirror?
...if your JL is equipped with the power mirror then yes:

thank you! That’s helpful.
Mine has a larger enclosed area to remove since it has the safety packages but this is a good starting point.

I went with the GoPro and GoPro Labs firmware to make it turn on/record, and off automatically. That way it's good for off-roading, too.

I did the upper dash USB mod to easily connect it.
