The RAM Mount was a brilliant idea! RAM should make a production version of the same mount. There are some additional holes to drill, since I'd like to use all of the mounts, but the basic part is done! Very happy to have a solid mounting system!

FYI there are several similar production mounts available now for the 4xe. The recent poster was modifying an existing mount he already had.

I recently installed tackform's mount which is practically the same thing and compatible with the same arms etc.

I'm aware of many 4xe mounting solutions, but I'm already commited to RAM Mount. I had about 10 mount points in my old (stolen) Jeep and many pieces left over. Tackform and 67D and other mounts are all 20mm balls which are not easily compatible with the 17mm Garmin and 24mm (1") RAM balls, so I did not want to invest something new. I've also now using multiple Quad Lock products, which are more universal.

I'm very happy with my mount so far. I just need somewhere to put my sunglasses!

Hmm, I easily installed the 20-17mm double ball for my phone mount. And I'm just talking about the base plate, which has amps and diamond patterns and track slots. You don't have to use a ram base with your existing arms

Nice job on yours! I like the short oval mounts. It gives it a nice finished look. I think I will order a couple of them.

Mine worked and I didn't mod or cut?

As most may have noticed the the dash tray has been changed on the 4xe to accommodate the LED charging light array so most if not all of the on dash phone holders will not work. I Purchased the Bullet Point Mount which is basically a 67 Design Knock off except 1/2 the price.

Let me start by saying is is a quality mount that is all metal construction and will handle the trails well.

Anyway. The mount does not fit the 4xe without a minor modification. Pictured below is the base and all you need to do is cut 3/8" off the base leg, this will allos it to lay flat and fit the 4xe dash tray. That is is simple hacksaw job and you are good to go.

Becasue that was 2 Years ago 2 weeks after the 4xe was released, now manufactures have modified thier products.
