It is not need
probably not the head gasket if the vehicle is fine 99% of the time....?
[/QUOTE]
this is my experience with blown head gaskets ... everything seems fine up until u need step on the pedal harder then the problem becomes real obvious. Im not saying that is the problem but just a posibility

You would need to remove the radiator to clean it properly. Then it will probably leak.
quite a possibility .having it replaced with a good unit that wasn't over heated is good insurance

If the radiator fans are blasting but the engine is still overheating, it may very well be the thermostat. If the radiator is cold to the touch or air that the rad fan is displacing seems uncharacteristically cold, the thermostat isn’t allowing coolant to cycle through the radiator properly.

the process to clean the radiator properly would be better spent replacing it, if we're being honest, if it's the thermostat that's bad then all the radiator talk is pointless.

edit: forgot about the picture with the mud all over the front, it could benefit from a good cleaning

what are some other signs it could be the thermo? It seems like the radiator is unable to keep the coolant cool enough under heavy load w/ high temps and that means either the coolant is no good or the radiator has dirt covering it prevent heat dissipation

could be a little of both just not as likely.. if ur willing to do this when the engine fully warm put hand on the radiator fins see what u feel if just lukewarm .. this would answer a few of the questions automatically .....WHEN FAN OFF ONLY UNPLUG THE FAN PLUG JUST TO MAKE SURE IT DOESNT KICK ON!!!

I’m saying it looks brown to me, but I’m new to car stuff in general so maybe you can tell me if that is the correct/incorrect color

After soaking the radiator, then take the front grill out, and spray the radiator, from the front and back, with a hose end sprayer. If that doesn't work:
Replace the easiest, and cheapest thing first.
1. Thermostat.
2. Radiator
3. Dealership for some engine tear down, and head gasket work.

If it was head gasket wouldn’t coolant levels be dropping? My coolant levels are always the same

Been having cooling issues with the 3.6 - can’t maintain a climb at any sort of speed without overheating - it’s always coolant never anything else - even on flat highways it risks overheating at speed on hot days - coolant has recently been replaced and the issue is persisting

Here In colorado we’ve got quite a heatwave going and it’s been overheating on the highway constantly, even canyon roads at 50 mph - further, on the CA-NV state line it overheats nearly every time I drive through there over the summer

Not really sure what options I have - I removed my lights mounted in front of the grille and that helped, I remove my winch cover and that occasionally helps… but no matter what I’m dealing with overheating

Any advice?

I have a barricade bumper where the winch blocks part of the lower grille

Im also trying to find a grille & hood that allows more airflow - please send any recommendations
Is it still under warranty? If so, get it in and do it on Jeep's dime. Definitely a problem there and I don't think it is your bumper or winch. I've driven hard as heck in hot temps at high altitude and never have seen a coolant temp above 224.

Hope you get it taken care of!
