For anyone else who has this issue we've seen a lot of comeback overheating issues after replacing the thermostat with aftermarket ones. The OEM one has been horrendously backordered for a few months now so we had to start locating aftermarket ones for p0128 DTCs.

I'd say 1/20 come back for overheating. I'd use OEM whenever possible here.
Man, only 1/20? I’d say the motorad fail rate is probably closer to 40%. We flat out don’t install aftermarket anymore and I have started stocking thermostats for each variation of the 3.6 because of the backorder status.

I don't think putting in a bottle of Red Line Water Wetter would hurt. I've used this in high performance and other vehicles that ran on the hot side and it seemed to help. It wouldn't cover for a bad water pump or or restricted flow though.

It's interesting so many mentioned turning off the A/C. When mine gets a bit hot I turn on the A/C and it brings the temperature down quite a bit, I guess due to the auxiliary fan that turns on for that.

Ditto for me. I don’t use AC that much but when I see those signs that say to turn off AC to avoid overheating I usually turn mine on!

The Jeep only has 1 fan, there’s no auxiliary fan. When you turn the AC on, it makes the engine fan go to a higher speed.

Why does the 3.6 in the JL seem to run hotter than the JK 3.6. At least that’s what it feels like. The fan kicks on constantly and is way louder than any of my JKs.

My temps are fine. But the fan seems to run almost constantly.

Is it because we’re now cooling the the battery pack and have an extra 12/15 feet of coolant line?

It isn’t the same engine exactly, the PUG1 is a higher output version. The biggest reason is just software programming for the fan controller.
