Same here, had my ‘19 JLUR for a week and the handle broke, the dealership will replace the part while doing some upgrades this weekend

I was planning the same but the rattling is making me nuts. I also lost the spring, saw something fly and bounce around the cab after closing the center console one day - guess I know what it was.

Mine did this too. I fixed it right after it happened. This is the least of my worries. My JL is down for the count because of the instrument cluster failure.

This just happened to me. Thanks for posting the simple fix.

I didn't find a half rubber ball like what was mentioned in post 16. So, I just rolled up a tiny amount of 3M trim-moulding tape that I had laying around, and wedged it in the space near the Pin Head. That tape is very sticky and rubber like, so it should keep the pin in place and also prevent any rattling. However, if anyone finds out the correct retaining washer size, please let me know.

2019 jlur had my Jeep two days and the same thing happened to mine. Console was only opened one time.

Had my JL for 1 week and the handle broke yesterday. Took it by the service center today and the manager told me he's had four brand new JL's in the last week with the same issue. Repair parts are on order. Hope it's a permanent fix.

edit: I should add for reference, my JL is a 2019 MOAB.

To fix the latch issue the dealership ordered and replaced the entire console lid on mine. I guess it's an assembly that comes as one part. So far so good (after 2 days). Hopefully it holds up this time.

Just amazing:

First - that Jeep would allow something like that to get out there to frustrate owners,
Second - that Jeep would not already have a simple / inexpensive fix that it’s dealers could perform,
Third - that some capable owners were able to diagnose and resolve the issue DIY,
Fourth - that those capable owners would immediately post the solutions on the internet for other frustrated owners to apply to resolve the issue without the help of Jeep.

I experienced the very same problem with my new 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JL in
December, also. Took it in to the dealer - who said... “oh well, gee, we’re gonna have to order a new console, which will take about 3-4 months - they’re way backordered because there are 78 around the country with the same problem... so, be patient.”

What a bunch of BS, and incredibly costly repairs for something so simple!

Shouldn’t have gotten out of the factory with the problem and should have been an immediate simple solution that the dealers could apply!!!

Thanks to the “capable owners” for coming up with the solution and sharing it!!!

UPDATE: Well - following the guidance above, I was able to repair the latch and get it back together in about 30 minutes, or so. It’s a bit difficult to get all the parts positioned just right to go back together - really need an extra pair of hands to hold things just right. But once you figure out how it fits together it goes together fairly quickly. Then just slip the compression washer on the end of the “axel” shaft that holds the spring, and tap it with a socket and hammer to seat it well while you block the other end to hold it in place. I placed a dab of super glue gel on the washer and shaft tip to help hold it there after its reinstalled on the console lid.

You do have to remove the trim cover on the bottom of the lid covering the latch with a very small flat head screwdriver, or something similar. It just pops off. Then unscrew two screws holding the latch mechanism in place. Then you can take it inside to a well-lit counter and work on it. If you've got all the pieces - you can repair it pretty easily - if you are pretty handy with your hands / fingers to hold all the parts in the right position to re-assemble.

Once you've re-assembled it - you will never know it had fallen apart.

Same here, just 3 days after taking delivery. Also bothered by how the latch behind the middle back seat with the cup holders doesn’t stay latched. Just falls down. Frustrating

Not necessarily deserving of its own thread but I have had my JL for less than 2 weeks and have maybe only open the center console(the main larger opening) a dozen times; and the handle completely fell apart and fell off last night. No pics but hopefully this isn't foretelling the future and things to come.

Whoops, uploaded some pics but no words. Anyway, I got one of these #6 nylon washers to squeeze on. Had to widen the hole a touch with a drill. I couldn't get the locking washer to go on, which I beleive is a number 4.
