CarPlay 100% Useless With iOS 15

15.1 seems to have gotten it back to where it was before I got a new phone. Nothing freezes or disconnects and sound quality has improved. It's still not as good as Bluetooth, but I had that issue before I got a new phone, anyway.

iPhone 13 Pro, 15.1, 7", I have issues with carplay. I connect through the center console and carplay will work then it will just cut out and won't come back. I've tried turning car off and on, iPhone off and on. It won't re-engage. Really frustrating this morning as I needed directions. The odd thing is the phone continues to charge, so I don't think its the cable. This happens sporadically, not all the time.

I have the 13 Pro Max and have not had any issues. However, with my 11 Pro I had an issue with the phone losing connection, and bad audio. Turns out it was the non-apple cable I had it plugged in with. I switched to an apple cable and all of the issues stopped.

I have a 2021 JLUR that I had been using carplay via the USB2 in the armrest since March 2021 with an Iphone XS running ios 14. I just got an iphone 13pro on iOS 15 and now the armrest USB is useless. Freezes after a few minutes and becomes unresponsive. The USB1 in the dash works fine. How annoying.

It's well documented in another thread that the center USB doesn't work for Apple users.

Never heard of such. I use the center usb with my iPhone 12 Pro Max on iOS 15.1.1 with no problem.

Thanks. Always great when upgrading to something new breaks something that worked fine.. progress!

But mine did work fine until i got an iphone running ios 15.... and according to the jeep cares post others have linked, mine should work since its a 2021

Mine is a 2020, must be a late production as it works on mine.

FWIW, the USB port in the center console of my 2020 has been flawless for CarPlay, with every version of iOS since mid-2020.

I have a 2021 JLUR and have had connection issues like you have all mentioned with the Center Console USB. Disconnects repeatedly... Have even had the dealer replace the Uconnect and even the wiring harness... Eventually FCA Customer Relations told me the USB in the Center Console is not for Data, only for charging... Wich they corroborated with the AMBIGUITY in the user manual...

I use an iPhone 12 Pro Max

PS: I had a 2Door 2019 JL Sport S for 2 years and always used the Center Console USB and Apple Carplay worked flawlessly :/

My iPhone 8 still works 100% fine with the Jeep, and both USB’s are good. No issues. Just downgrade to an iPhone 8 if you are having any issues, and that should fix any problems you have.

Whatever iOS updates Apple has released have driven me to stop using CarPlay entirely. When I plug the phone in, the audio quality of whatever I'm listening to tanks and the volume drops (imagine going from maybe 20 to 15 or so on the knob). After some amount of time the volume will begin randomly surging up and down. Also, if the phone is plugged in the volume stops getting louder past 24 on the knob. Voice directions through Google Maps don't work, they just mute the left speakers. Forget about listening to music over CarPlay, hardly any volume and it sounds like all the EQs have been turned down as far as they can go.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max with iOS 15.4.1

Absolutely no problems with Carplay using the USB in the console.
