LOL In my case it wasn't intentional per se but the results were swift and very costly. I had a car that the registration was paid on, but smog was due, and I couldn't get it smogged since I was in the middle of top-end work. After getting it running, tuned, etc about 6 months later, the day I was driving it to get smogged, not busting the speed limit or anything - but just because my tags were expired I got pulled over. And impounded. It took me two days to get temp tags, and $1500 in impound fees to get my car back. This was in Roseville...Ouch. I wasn't suggesting you break the law, just wondering what happens to people that do.
Every once in awhile, I get pissed at the senseless bureaucracy and wonder what happens if I stop paying.
FTFY...Government is the only thing stopping some corporations which don't bribe them well enough from killing us for profit.
went down to the dealer, said they could get me in monday and turn around is 2 days max, also talked to the diesel mech, seems like a good guyLet me know how that goes... pretty sure the dealership just flat forgot about my recall. If you think your smog issues are bad, I purchased my 22 Eco from out of state, so when I got here it had to be weighed, inspected, and smogged with 442 miles on the odometer. Just smogged my wife's JLU yesterday with 1641 miles on it. Cali sucks.
if you own a diesel, its every 2 years for smog, i just found out the hard way , as mine is a 22 also and i was surprised to get a notice, and of course i replaced the main battery and the monitors were not ready for over 1.5 months! Also keep this in mind, you are allowed to have 2 moniots Not ready and they can pass the smog! remember this, as i went to 3 different smog shops and they kept telling me that all monitors need to be in ready mode, however the last place i went to , they told me over the phone, " if you have only 2 monitors not ready you can pass the smog, which was true and it passed. So got the jeep brand new in 22, got a smog notice from cali. so 2 years after I bought it, which is funny because I bought my wifes suburban in 2020 and still has yet to need smog. i hate this state so much, that is all
OP never said anything about pollution, he’s aggravateEd that the state requires smog checks on a new vehicle.OP is aggravatEd that the State won’t allow polluting which is a cause of sickness in people.
Government is the only thing stopping corporations from killing us for profit.
On a new vehicle it's probably more about coal rollers than emissions, because it's unlikely that a fairly new vehicle has developed an emissions problem after only a few years.OP never said anything about pollution, he’s aggravateEd that the state requires smog checks on a new vehicle.
Unfortunately California has more than just a few idiotsOn a new vehicle it's probably more about coal rollers than emissions, because it's unlikely that a fairly new vehicle has developed an emissions problem after only a few years.
Just takes a few idiots to ruin things for everyone.
I've heard this one works https://www.49dollarmontanaregisteredagent.com/Most of those are scams and end up costing you a shitload more money in the long run.
Have you seen the latest— they now want a required back seat driver type nag telling you when you are 10mph over the speed limit.I love living in California…I hate dealing with California
San Francisco's WienerHave you seen the latest— they now want a required back seat driver type nag telling you when you are 10mph over the speed limit.
IdiocracyHave you seen the latest— they now want a required back seat driver type nag telling you when you are 10mph over the speed limit.
Good job- I wasn’t smart enough to save the article. Ca should Not be allowed to exceed Fed vehicle standards. They wouldn’t register my GC until I got the unwanted “add auto-park” recall done either, (the badly designed shifter was changed back to a normal shifter after a couple years). It is now also a Very Touchy lousy designed shifter.
I can't get behind this as the solution. But it goes without saying so many people just have no respect for the law and think rules like speed limits just don't apply to them. Or staying on a trail. Or driving buzzed/intoxicated....Or.. or.. or...Have you seen the latest— they now want a required back seat driver type nag telling you when you are 10mph over the speed limit.
Regrettably, those few idiots give them the excuse to pursue their agenda, not just the illegal idiots. On a new vehicle it's probably more about coal rollers than emissions, because it's unlikely that a fairly new vehicle has developed an emissions problem after only a few years.
