I’ve never tried this but… A couple of people in the Jeep clubs here buy these and cut them to fit, and or cut to fit the washable ones. $20 and forever use supposedly.

The activated charcoal has a limited lifespan. Charcoal can absorb contaminates. Yours is probably worn out. More important for those with sensitive breathing issues. New cabin air filters with activated charcoal usually ship in sealed plastic. The DIY ideas seam to use non charcoal filters. Probably work great if not sensitive to your surroundings. The correct filters are cheap enough I'll replace with oem style when necessary. How often are you guys changing them?
I have about 25,000 miles and 4 years on mine. Not a lot of off-road, and almost none behind another vehicle in dusty conditions. Still, I figure it's time to change it.
This is in a 3.0L diesel?I've been using the K&N cabin air filters for a while, fit is perfect and I just take them out to clean twice a year. #VF2064. 2 filters are in the package, Price seems to have increased since I got mine, but then everything else has too.
Diesel uses the same cabin air filter. This is in a 3.0L diesel?
From the factory my 2023 FarOut came with a one piece filter and the ink used to paint the data on the side was, well, empty, and it is only shadows. The EcoDiesel 3.0 engine uses a different cabin filter for some reason. The correct part number is 68364653AA. You need two, and they are pricey.
Since they are basically the same as the air filters your home A/C uses, you can make your own for a lot less. Buy one of the "cut to fit" home A/C filters and you can make enough to last for months. I've been using homemade filters for quite a while with no issues, and most of my driving is in the desert so I need to change them often. The approximate dimensions of each filter is 7 5/8 x 4 3/4 x 1 inches.
I just changed my cabin filter on my 2022 diesel, also a one piece filter. From the factory my 2023 FarOut came with a one piece filter and the ink used to paint the data on the side was, well, empty, and it is only shadows.
You could have purchased 4 (FOUR) aftermarket cabin air filters for what the dealer charged you for that one OEM cabin air filter.I was at the dealer today and decided to pick up a cabin air filter. I had part# 68535621AA written down as being correct for the 392 version. The parts guy couldn't find a part. Then looking it by VIN he came out with 68565698AA @ $50.00. MSRP is $34. I made him double check.
Apparently in late 2021 68535621AA (now replaced by 683018631AA) was replaced by 68565698AA in the newer model years. The filter I got is about 8x9.5 inches. I haven't installed yet.
