These hinges were definitely painted after install. I had to adjust one of my doors and had to break the clear coat around the head of the bolt. I called the dealer and they said to bring it back and they would correct the issues. To me that screams we repainted them. At this point I don't care either way as long as they are corrected.

Today I joined the ranks of the Bubbles and Door Hinge support group. I noticed the hinges this Fall and it took a while to get the dealer to look the issue over. They had the jeep for about 45 minutes, took pictures of every panel, and came back with a diagnosis: The hood, all hinges, and all 4 doors need the panels replaced. The rear hatch hinges need to be replaced, but unsure if the actual hatch panel does yet. So that is all being submitted for my 2020 JLUR, which has like 6 months left on the corrosion warranty. Apparently waiting for parts, and body shop takes a while. Here is my question to the group: Has anyone submitted to Stellantis to be reimbursed for a lifetime ceramic application? I had my Jeep done as soon as I bought, complete IGL Kenzo lifetime on everything. Now with this issue, virtually the entire body will be replaced, repainted, or at least blended/oversprayed. So my $$$ spend is now of zero value. I am going to give it a try with Jeep Wave / Jeep Cares, or whoever to see if I can get them to have it redone at their cost. I just wanted to see if anyone tried and had success or failure. Thanks!

Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed yet at Jeep? I just bought a new 2024 and wondering what my future will be?

They have added zinc shims to the door hinges in hopes that it will help. No indication they have done anything to address the issue along the door and hood edges.

They’ve had six model years to work on a solution…but no one will know for several more years if needed improvements are successful. Candidly I suspect it will help but not eliminate the problem, especially for non hinge related corrosion.

I recently purchased two new hinges to replace two of my hinges that have started corroding. I plan to rattle can (prime, paint, clear coat)and install if the match is reasonable. The new hinges have the shims attached. I don’t want documented paint work in my Jeep…kills trade in value.

I just had doors replaced and the part number revision level is up to AO, hopefully that's an indication they've improved the corrosion resistance.

That would be nice. I still have almost 3 years left on my warranty so they have time to do so if they haven't already.

Went to the service department today for inspection. It took about three minutes of looking before they said they’re going to need it for a week. Plan is to sand down hood and all doors and repaint then replace the hinges. Nothing for the tailgate but neither they or me saw anything there. Jeep goes in for facelift in two weeks. They don’t have a shop onsite but they’re gonna send it to an independent shop all under warranty.

Just got hit with bubbles on the hood hinges.
Dealership sent me to their own body shop who will do the repairs and warranty as long as I own the Jeep.
Love the Jeep off road, but these paint prep issues are horse shit and resale will take a hit.
I knew it was a possibility going in so I'll stop crying about it now.

The current procedure is to replace corroded panels like doors and hoods with new parts, repairs of the existing panels are not holding up.

Never noticed it on mine before but didn't know what to look for. Now that I do, I found two spots on my 2021 JLU with 28k miles on it. One on a driver's door hinge and the other on a hood hinge. I've got a little over two years corrosion warranty left so I'm going to see how bad this can get.

To add another datapoint to the mix, we had corrosion on the hood too.

Hood was repainted entirely (reportedly) by the dealership body shop.

i doubt it’ll remedy the issue in the long run.

I don't, but that's what's getting authorized when a claim is approved. You can reach out to @JeepCares if you have questions. They helped get one of my doors expedited after I'd been waiting for several months.
Thanks for the tip!

@JeepCares can we talk?
