2018 February delivery JLUR. I got in one day before my 5 years was up and all hinges and 3 doors were replaced. Total process was about a month from beginning to end. Hopefully this takes care of it for a while as I intend to keep it.

The shop did a good job. I do need to claybar the one door that didn't need paint to clean it up. I'm sure that one will start bubbling at some point.

Good to hear - what colour is your Jeep? Also, any alignment issues from them doing it, assuming they painted the doors too? Hopefully it doesn't. If it was a chain like FIX or CarStar it should be covered under their lifetime warranty.

This is one of the reasons I got white.....I knew I'd have to re-paint something at some point

I agree, not only do I appreciate the look, but it's easier to match paint.

Our 2021 Sahara Unlimited 4XE had paint chip off from the inside out on one hinge. Took it to dealer and we inspected the rest, all 4 doors the hinges are starting to bubble / corrode and same with the hood hinges.

Waiting to find out if it’s approved or not. They let me choose the shop last time and same shop said they’re going to paint the hinges off the Jeep and then put them on the doors, maybe with the doors off so they can line it up easily. Apparently the new TSB has shims, so hopefully this helps.

has anyone had PX8 Black done? They did 1 roof panel, 2 rear fenders and a bolt so far. All matched up perfectly. Nervous about all the hinges though… but glad they don’t have to do the doors / hood

Hey, how long did it take for Jeep to answer the warranty claim / approve it for the dealership?

I called Jeep Cares and started a claim and got a number assigned. I brought that number to the dealer and they took pictures and it was approved within a few days. It was in the shop within 3 weeks and then it took about three weeks to complete as they had to order 3 doors and all the hinges. If only all warranty claims were this smooth.

So you didn’t have your jeep for three weeks?! Why didn’t they wait until all the parts were in to start the work?

I was on vacation so I left it with them. I'm guessing they painted as they received parts over the 3 weeks.

That’s ridiculous if they kept it while waiting on parts. It’s not a mechanical issue. Im still in warranty, so assuming a rental car is provided. Is there now a TSB to prevent the corrosion from returning?

Washed the jeep over the weekend and noticed small bubbles in the paint at one of the rear door hinges. I am over a year and have roughly 27k miles. They are hard underneath and the paint is not loose and pretty sure they were not there last time i washed the vehicle. It cant be rust under the paint since the doors are aluminum. All other hinges are fine. Has anyone seen this issue?

Aluminum oxide while not rust (iron oxide) is indeed still corrosion.
But regardless, I'm pretty sure what's happening there is galvanic corrosion, which is what happens between differing metals that also have electrical contact and have an electrolyte presence. (water)

And since the frame of the Jeep itself is the ground point for a vehicles electric system, the electric presence is there. The hinges are outside, moisture.

Is there a long term solution or will it be a reoccurring issue? Mine is only 2 years old and dealing with it. So they fix it, but then just expect it to come back..I’m shocked there isn’t at least a TSB on it.

I don't know if there is a long term solution, I certainly hope so.

A DIY solution would be to get some gasket material and cut a perfectly sized one to place between the door and the gasket. Not necessarily sure how to deal with the bolt connecting them though.
It's such a stupid oversight on the part of whatever engineers chose the materials.
