Bronco vs Jeep Wrangler mega thread

Ford has made a huge mistake by NOT offering a soft top for the 2 door Bronco! Are you kidding me Ford!?

How can you say you’re competing with the Wrangler and not even offer a soft top on the 2 door? I’m one of those guys that couldn’t care less about a hard top. There’s absolutely zero freedom with a removable hard top alone.

I was debating between a new 2021 Rubicon 2 door in HellaYella and a 2 door Bronco Badlands. No soft top is an absolute deal breaker for me on the Bronco. After building my Rubicon on the Jeep site and comparing it to the Bronco, the wife says Jeep!

I like the new Bronco but I still give the looks to the Wrangler!

I;m sure the aftermarket will take of that and offer a soft top. IE: Bestop and Smittybilt

I think these new Broncos look great. I'll be paying attention to how they perform. I wouldn't want to be one of the first orders of a brand new vehicle of any type. Two or three years from now I may entertain buying one.

I'm cheering Ford on, because COMPETITION will force FCA to give me a Wrangler Base Sport 2 door , with 2.0T manual transmission, line - ex interior, marine vinyl seats, removeable side windows on hard top, standard AC, all for under $30,000 including destination charges...

I’ve been watching lots of automobile reviews online. Ford products have been getting a lot of criticism lately, from different reviewers, for cheap-feeling materials, budget-looking interiors, questionable choices in transmission programming, and other miscellaneous issues that have to do with product design and cost-cutting.

The shots I have seen of the exterior look good; the interior looks so-so. I think I already see some cheapness around the front end; that grille looks like one giant piece of black molded plastic on closeups.

I will definitely not rush into anything. I’ll wait for the thing to come out, see the reviews, and see it in the flesh, Hopefully Ford has put as much attention to detail into the final product as he has done into the marketing.

looks like a rounded version of an IH Scout.. Iloved my old slant 4 Scouts, had two of them. Course in those days Jeeps didn’t have steel doors and roll up windows, so the Scout was pretty sophisticated compared to a CJ5.

It is a weird choice. I'm sure either Ford or the aftermarket will have one out there pretty soon after release (not all that dissimilar from us early JL buyers - those were the days ugh), but yea... very strange. I wonder what the given reasoning on that is.

Yes, the compromises are real.

Still, other manufacturers, including FCA, are doing a better job providing materials and switchgear with better look-and-feel than Ford at the moment.

As a convertible only driver, I will choose whichever vehicle has the better powered soft top. If bronco comes out with something better than a sliding rag top, then Bronco takes my money, because I also love the B pillar delete and frameless doors!

They just do not appear to be rugged. I don't think they will stand up to the pounding of years of trail running. It is nothing to see 20+ year old jeeps out on the trail getting it done. I just do not see this in these vehicles. They will be a hoopty after 5 years of trail use. There is no way that one of them will pull $25,000 dollars in resale value with 150,000 miles on it like a Jeep Rubicon will. Just not going to happen. They will be a $5000 dollar chevy blazer, or ford escape in the future.

I can't be the only one who gives fj cruisers a double-take. My heads always on a swivel so whenever my eye sweeps over the face of one, it gets pulled back to read the grill.

I've yet to see a live bronco, because so far they've all turned out to be fj's, but have to agree with wibornz. They have that refined rugged styling, but look as delicate as a road based vehicle.

I consider myself a "Ford guy", but that enthusiasm is limited to a very small number of vehicles produced over the years. I really want to like the Bronco, and I kinda do, but the tacked on fender flares look terrible in my opinion.

And to be honest, much of my excitement over it revolved around the 2.7 turbo and 7-speed. With that fizzling out, there's really not much to draw me to the Bronco that my Jeep doesn't already do better.

I like the concept of the 4Xe, but again, no manual, no deal. It's too big of a sacrifice to give up that raw connection to your ride
