Best Spare Tire Carrier?

Does anyone know what the BEST spare tire carrier is? I keep debating if I want to get a teraflex one or a mopar one. Please let me know what yall think!

The Teraflex makes the Mopar one look like it was designed by preschoolers. Not even close. You'll see where that extra money went.

the mopar tailgate reinforcement is a bandaid in my opinion. It is bolted over the original hinges and it has spacers between the hinges and the reinforcement. It only utilizes the the four passenger side bolts the attach the actual tire carrier to the tailgate and two spacers on the driver side four bolts. It does not cover enough of any of the attachment points to be truly solid, every joint is a point for potential flexing. The Teraflex is one piece that combines the hinges and supports the entire tire carrier. If you are going to be traveling rough roads or go with bigger tires I would say spend the money, it really only stings once. If you are not going to be on rough roads the mopar reinforcement will help. I have done Teraflex on my 392 and just added one to my 24 2 door and they are worth every penny.

I have the Teraflex Alpha HD carrier (without the adjustable mount). Great product.

If money isn't a concern there's AEV's tire carrier. Has a spot to slide your shovel behind the spare and an optional 10.2g fuel cell. The way it opens is pretty slick since you simply open the tailgate seamlessly in one motion. Exceptional build quality. Requires their bumper of course.

I have the Teraflex hinge and carrier. The thing is super beefy. I ran one when it came out for the JK, and it’s worked flawlessly for about 11 years with a 100lb+ wheel and tire combo. The new owner just totaled that Jeep a couple months back, but I don’t doubt it would have kept kicking much longer. Simply works.

The JL version feels just as beefy, if not more so, and should have no problem with even fairly heavy setups. I believe Teraflex claims support of up to a 39” tire.

Plus, there’s plenty of extra holes drilled and tapped to get creative with lights and accessories later on. I have my GMRS antenna mounted there and have plans for dust/chase lights at some point.
